Quote I have PD 14 and am happy with it. No need to upgrade to 15. I thought about buying CD 5. Is it worth the cost,,,,, does it interface with PD 14 ok ? Or should one learn how to use DaVinci resolve that's free ?

Thx

Try it before you buy it !

What would you use it for? The color adjustments in Power Director 14 not enough?

Resolve betas are free but the commercial version is $300

Dont know just looking at it. Seemed to have alot more adjustments than the PD 14 has. Like curves etc...

Quote ...Was just wondering if there was another way...

create a custom profile.

17Mb/sec bitrate is balanced for yada yada comes too short.

i render my 4k to 1080p @44Mb/sec and Sony goes to 50Mb/sec.

render at various bitrates and settle down on your taste...

I will try this !!!! thanks

Quote That is what I would do.

It's what I do as well.

There is an unproven argument that the down sampled 4K is better quality than normal 1080 because any error in a pixel is 4 times smaller than the same error in 1080.

It seems sharper to me, but others will argue it's impossible - judge for yourself.

Robert

Thats the process I do.Was just wondering if there was another way. As long as we are all on the same page.
I have a sony a6300 that will film 4k. When I go to produce I pick 1080 from the drop down. Is this all it takes to down sample the 4k clip and keep as much of the quality possibel
Quote "can i not pull all cyberlink files off my ssd and transfer them to my other hard drive "

In a word, no. That isn't how software installation works except in very limited cases for e.g. portable apps.

Problem solved. Tech support sent me a new link to download to my new computer build.
Quote Anytime I download paid software I make copies of everything, the invice, email, key codes. It's a good habit.

Now you will have to find some type of proof of purchase to convince Cyberlink to send you a new download. We cannot assist you here as we are just volunteers with a scant few Cyberlink contractors lurking around from time to time.

Quote I'm almost afraid to ask...

Did you save your installation files when you downloaded the program? Do you haave a DVD copy?

I dont know I will have to look for something

I checked I do not have a copy. It is on my SSD drive along with windows seven. Im wondering if I only wipe windows seven off the drive if it will work. Reson being is I have to load windows 10 because the new mother board and processor only supports 10 not 7. I would feel better if I could format that whole drive and wipe everything clean. Is there another way to save or get power director back?

Upgrading my processor and motherboard so I'm going to have to reload Windows and power director. How do I reload pd 14. Is there a link or email I send. I can't remember

Quote Try Standard 2D.

Yes but which file format is best

What do you intend to do with the file other than upload it to YouTube? Will you burn it to a DVD, put it on a Thumbdrive, etc. Also where are you so you can select the proper resolution.

Only downloading to youtube or viemo maybe once a whilw to a thmb drive,

I live in Atlanta

Quote I have always been producing straight to you tube. Do most of you do it this way or choose another option when you produce and then download it to you tube

Thanks

I always produce to a file on my computer and then upload it from there. Download is from YouTube to local; upload is local to YouTube.

That seems to be faster (overall) and I usually find somehting I want to change before I commit to YouTube.

When you produce to your computer which tab do you use?

Quote laughing yes absolutely (in fact you could argue that we should all be rendering to 60fps).

Thanks guys!!

Quote Guys,

I just got a new Sony A6300 camera.I have been reading that it is best to film in 4K and then drop it down to 1080 when I edit every thing. Where abouts do I convert the 4K to 1080. Is it in the final produce tab or is there another area I need to visit in power director

Thanks

Try using PD14s shadow files (EDIT - PREFERENCES - GENERAL - ENABLE HD VIDEO PROCESSING) which will reduce the resolution automatically. When you produce your finished project your 4K images will be reproduced automatically providing you select the correct settings to produce 4K.

However, if you use shadow files make sure all your images are complete before you begin your edit. That means all the clips in your media room should have a green film clip in the bottom left hand corner. If any are still yellow, wait until they are all green before you start.

Alternatetively, you could try another method that works very well. http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/43102.page

Ok I will play with this. The thing is I will have a mix of 4K video ,still shots and 1080 footage from my drone. The 4K will be of clips takein inside a house along with the still shots on my sony A6300. Can I just add everything to my timeline and do it all at once or do I need to do the 4K clip seperate from the others and then add it to the timeline. I plan to just produce it all in 1080 but I dont want to film with the camera in 1080 because it looks a bit flat. 4K is better and then edit down to 1080 they say

Quote Your workflow seems to be in need of "tidying up". I can't understand why you needed to download your produced video from Vimeo so you could upload it to YouTube. Did you not still have the original produced file stored on your PC?

Once you start a project and save it, the project file (.pds) and all your media (videos, images & audio) should still be available to you on your PC.

If you pack the project, the .pds file and all your media will be copied into a new folder. That's the best way to go about it if you need to work on the project in different locations. It also ensures that all your assets are neatly filed in the one place.

Please take a look at these two tutorials on Project Management - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAOnn8g0C_o & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2CYLYIynB0 Following similar procedures, it's unlikely you'd be having such difficulties.

There's also an article in the PD Forum Users Newsletter called Backup vs. Packup which might be of use.

Not sure what the issue might be with your CL Cloud uploads. In PDR Preferences, under CyberLink Cloud, try clearing your offline cache & signing out of CL Cloud service completely.

  1. Click on Account Information > Sign in using your CL login details & confirm that all is OK with your account.

  2. Close PDR then open a small project.

  3. Go to File > Upload Project to CL Cloud or Pack & upload

Still get the same error?

On the failed WMV issue, could you please use the sample clip "Kite Surfing.wmv" & produce to WMV 9 1280x720/30p (6Mbps)? Does the produced file play back in PDR? Does it play back in a media player on your PC?

If that fails, could you please post the MediaInfo for the produced file?

Cheers - Tony

Thanks Tony.

I will have a look at all of this when I get a chance. Might be later this week.

When you say pack can you please explain what this is??

is it in that article you metioned
Quote Hi laserdoc -

Is the WMV/YouTube issue somehow related to CL Cloud project uploads? or a separate thing?

Here, I have no issues uploading projects to CL Cloud, whether I just upload the project file or pack it first.

A WMV file won't playback on your PC or YouTube? Really?

Could you please outline the steps you're taking to:

  1. upload your project to YouTube

  2. produce & upload your WMV file

Cheers - Tony

The upload to the cyberlink cloud and the WMV file are two seperate issues. After finishing a project and downloading it to vimeo my client wanted it on you tube. I was able to go to the vimeo site and download it to me desktop as a mp4 file and dump it into youtube. So that issue is solved.

But I had wanted to dump this project back into power director to tweek somethings and could only find a wmv file on my hard drive of the completed project. I click on it and it would try to open in widows media player but could not play. It said something about codec issues. I thean tried to drop in back into power director to see if it would take it and it would not work. I thought I was going to have to redo the project again.

Thats where I wish I could have saved the project in the cyber link cloud so I could bring it back to work on it. But when I try to upload to the cloud on past projects it always says the server cannot not ne reached and to check my internet connection.

Not sure why it tells me that because I am connected to the internet.

If I cannot dump it into the cloud to bring it back to work on it again if needed where else should I stick it and would it be better to save it and produce it into a AVI file instead?
Quote I believe that YouTube will accept a wmv file. UPLOAD it to YouTube using the YouTube Uploader rather than through the program.

Thanks Steve. I shall try it..

Well it did not work. My WMV file does not even play on my computer in the windows player. It says it is missing a codec ????
