So I tried a few additional videos and shot a few varying the settings. What I have concluded is on a long clip, one that was almost 8 minutes shot at 24 fps 1920x1080, it stalls out after about 28 seconds.... short clips, same setting work at that setting. clips under 30 seconds or so will play fine once fully loaded into PD3.....

So now I think maybe it is Ram memory... I have 8GB, but my computer is running more stuff at start up than it should... will clean it up a bit, and will continue to play with it.... thanks all for your help!
Shadowman,
Can you tell me what processor you are using?
Thanks
is that from your GH4 manual? I need to check my manual
Thanks Shadowman,
Why is my bitrate so high for 1920x1080?

If you shoot 24p cinema mode at 1920x1080 on the GH4, what is the bitrate? Should be the same as mine, the cameras are virtually identical except for 4K

How can I tell what the bitrate is? Again, new to this....

I checked your download and I again appreciate your efforts... ynotfish, you are awesome! What speed/power CPU do you have? I might be back to the i5 or graphic card or not being enough?????

So if not bitrate, I wonder what it does not like about the files from the GH3? I will shoot a little test video today at different fps.... see if that makes a difference (although I really like 24fps for quality)... all of you know more about the production side of video than I (learning fast). Thoughts?
Thanks all for your help.... disappointed that the Product won't handle .mov files with a bitrate over 20.... that's my conclusion.... looks like I will need to convert to MP4 files, and then do editing.... converted to MP4 and it works fine... not my first choice OR what I think the Product should be able to do....
So how would I convert a .mov file to a smaller bitrate format like MP4 based on what I am reading from this thread? Like I said, new to video, and learning.... if I need to do that, it would be OK for much of what I do...
Tony,
So even with a i7 processor you could not play .mov clips with PDR13? How is that possible? PDR13 as an editor would need to be able to handle .mov files, wouldn't it? Not much of an editor if it can't. If it can't handle this on an i7, how can it handle 4k?

I so appreciate you taking the time to check this out, but that is totally confusing that it won't play on your computer
SteveK... yes the photo is mine... Antelope Canyon in Page, AZ... I will go thru and clean out some of the programs in the start up later today (have to get some work done) That clip is directly from the camera, no edit....
Shadowman.... I tried turning off the shadow files... did not fix it.... but "what are shadow files".... new to video, long time photographer.... greatly appreciate all your help! Question.... is an i5 processor early version the problem? SteveK... cleaning up my start up... can that solve the problem in your opinion?
How do I do a driver update for the GPU?
New to the Forum so be kind to a newbie.... I checked and I do have the latest version of Quicktime.... was hoping that was it.

I have attached a txt of the DxDiag64 text, a short video and a picture of the workspace.... The video fron the GH3 just won't play real time, and ends up freezing on the viewer on larger clips.... audio continues to run... I thought it should run OK with an i5 processor and 8gb ram, but it is an earlier i5. Since the software should be able to handle 4k, I don't think it is the video... could it be the graphics card is not capable? I hope it is something I can set in the software...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Steve
I recently got a Panasonic GH3 camera for video.... when I put a video clip on the timeline it will play for about 20 seconds and stop showing a live review although the audio continues... it flashes white a few times and freezes the video. Using video from a Canon Mk2 works fine... I have a laptop with a i5 core and 8 gb of memory... is is an older i5. Is it the computer? The camera? I thought Power Director would be a nice and simple way to do editing... I have used Power Director for slideshows for a few years. Anybody know how I might be able mto fix this issue? Need to get a few clips edited ASAP! Thanks in advance for any help!
