Quote Is there a way to import HD clips at a much lower resolution for editing, and then up-rez for export? My laptop, which I occaisionally use for video editing is pretty slow and often can't play back clips smoothly at full resolution. If I could import at lower rez, it might be able to play those clips and the timeline. I know I should get a better laptop, but I generally use my much faster desktop. Any ideas here?

Anyone? Or is this not possible in PowerDirector 13?
Quote Just tried it with the Easy Editor. It works properly but I see major problems like “My Title” can’t be changed when I chose Produce. I need to go back to Advanced editing anyway since I want to make those changes.

No problem here in using the Easy Editor but I can't make changes to those Magic Styles titles if I choose Produce which opens the full editor anyway.

Thanks but you didn't answer my question. How did you import clips from a camcorder into Easy Edit? I was able to get some clips imported but when I tried to "produce", nothing happened. Any ideas?
Quote Hello everyone. I Currently use power director 12. On Sunday afternoons I am an assistant manager of a ladies football team. As well as issueing instructions to the players during the game I also film it and put the videos on youtube. However sometimes the shouting spoils the video. So my question is, is there away of removing the shouting from the footage as I make the video in PD12? The link included has me shouting 'Get back and help girls' its these kind of comments I want to remove if possible without removing the entire sound altogther.

Thank you all in advance!

A quick fix might be to clip out the offending audio, and replace it with crowd noise that has no curse words. You might have to cross fade the new portions with the old portions to get a smooth, unoticeable transition, but should work. Or you could just avoid the cursing in the first place.

WHen I try to use the easy edit method, I am having trouble importing clips from my camcorder. They import fine into the full edit version, but can't figure out how to get them into the easy version. Any hints?

Quote Try this: Go to the Preferences/Hardware acceleration and uncheck Enable Hardware decoding.

Let us know if this fix the problem.

Well, it sort of fixed it. I can see the video now, but it seems to be in slow motion and hangs up after playing for just a few seconds. Also, don't see any time code numbers advancing, just sits at zero.

I seem to remember using this software on an older computer with Win 7 Pro, and it worked fine, although it may have been a DV camera I was using back then. Still, the file format selection includes MTS, which is AVCHD, no? Could the problem be with Win 10 (which I absolutely hate, BTW)? Please advise, this is driving me nuts! Thanks for your help.

Just for grins, I tried using the same clip after converting it to an MP4 format, and was even worse. I just can't figure this out. Help!

I suppose it could be the computer, but it plays back raw video from a USB stick just fine, so I am really puzzeled. Also plays back Netflix, etc with no problem, so I don't think its the computer, which is a 64bit, 4 gigs of RAM, Win 10 standard laptop. Any ideas?

So I recently purchased an Asus laptop with Windows 10 as the OS. I had an old copy of PD12 in my desk drawer so I decided to install it. Everything went smoothly. Then I remembered I had an upgrade disc to PD13, so I upgraded. Again, all smooth.

But, when I try to import video from a Sony Camcorder which I'm pretty sure is AVCHD format, at 60P (60i is an option), something strange happens. When I double click the clip, I can watch it in the preview monitor window just fine, but when I add it to the timeline, I can only see a green rectangle where the video used to be, although I can hear the audio. What am I doing wrong here. I have Avid Media Composer, but it won't take AVCHD for some strange reason, so I thought I'd use PD to avoid having to convert all my clips before importing into Avid.

Can PD13 handle AVCHD? I thought it could but seem to having this problem. If anyone can help out, I'd really appreciate it!
I am having trouble installing WaveDirector, and I have also installed a new hard drive in my computer. I am thinking of uninstalling all of my Cyberlink software, then re-installing it onto this newer, faster hard drive. In the Avid world, it is not recommended to have the edit software on the same drive as media clips. Is this also true with Cyberlink? If I decide to keep it on a separate drive (the C: drive), can I still uninstall it, then re-install it to possibly overcome problem with WaveDirector? I think I have the latest build (maybe two weeks since I received disc) so are there any patches I need to install? Thanks!

Should work, thanks for your help!
Oh, wait...I got it now.
I clicked on "download" but nothing happened.
Thanks, will try that but I think the photo will have to be "keyed" from rear because of flowers that overlap part of frame. I imagine I just need to play around so as to match fade-in speed of template.
I am trying to use one of Cyberlink's pre-built graphics in a wedding video. It is the one, under "Romance", with a gold picture frame over some pink flowers, etc. The picture frame has nothing in it, so that you can insert a photo of the bride and groom or whatever. I would like to use this effect but am having difficulty figuring out how to key the photo thru the picture frame and have it smoothly appear as the graphic appears. I don't want it to just "pop" into the frame, but to appear as though it was all created in one piece. Hope I am being clear in my description. In other words, as the graphic fades up and the flowers animate across the front, I need for the photo to fade up as well, without appearing like it is disconnected from the rest of the action. Make sense? (I hope so!) Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out here. Happy Holidays!
Hi all. No, turning off "shadow file" did not fix it. Here's what I've determined. On a 1080P 60P (59.94) project, the only way the timeline would play back smoothly is if I select "non-real time" preview. Not very helpful since you can't hear audio in this mode. Lowering the preview quality didn't help. On a 1080i 30fps (29.97) project, the timeline played back fine, even in "real time" preview mode. I did a short project in PD12 that was in 1080P and I think it played back fine. I am going to call it up and play it back in PD13 to see what happens. Anyone else have an issue when upgrading from PD12 to 13? Thanks.
Specs for computer are:

ASUS P8 Motherboard
128gb SSD for boot drive
2TB SATA III hard drive as media drive
16gb RAM (Ripjaws)
Intel i7 quad core processor
nVidia Geforce 1gb video card (8xxx series, I think)
PowerDirector 13

All codecs from K-Lite, includes most, if not all, common codecs. What would cause software conflict on computer?
Thanks!
Even though I have a pretty stout video card (nVidia), plenty of RAM, I am having a problem with PD13. Seems that at nearly every edit point, there is a momentary freeze that happens, then the video continues to play. It seems to happen more on heavy action scenes, like an amusement park ride, less on more mundane things like people sitting around talking. This is very annoying and even setting the preview levels down to well-below HD doesn't help. I would like to be able to watch a smooth playback of ALL my clips, even the quick action stuff. Can anyone help me with this? BTW, this doesn't happen with my other video editor, avid media composer, so I don't think its the computer. I will say, I am only using 1080P in PD13, not avid, there its 1080i footage. Really want to solve this. Thanks!
Where is "installer.exe" file?
