I had a similar issue earlier on Windows 8.1 with a Realtek 892. I had to uninstall and reinstall the drivers a couple of times. It had to do with the dts-hd sound on the BD not finding a secure path to transmit the sound.

I was able to get sound with the Microsoft HD audio drivers, but not the Realtek ones. Eventually, I got the Realtek drivers to work.

What type of speaker setup do you have? Have you tried changing the audio output under settings in PDVD?
Hello,

I'm new to PowerDVD, but have had a heck of a time getting audio output right. My system is a AsRock B75 Pro3m with a Realtek 892. I have my HTPC hooked up to a 7.1 surround sound receiver via analog outputs. The receiver only accepts 7.1 via analog and not through HDMI. It is a Pioneer VSX-1017TXV.

The issue I am having is when PowerDVD has 8 speakers selected as an output and I play an older BD with only 5.1 surround I only get sound out of the center, front, and subwoofer. If I pop in a new BD with 7.1, I get sound in all speakers. If I select 6 speaker output on the BD with 5.1, I get sound out of the rear speakers, but as soon as I select 8, it goes back to front, center, and subwoofer only. Is there no way to get PowerDVD to play 5.1 audio with an 8 speaker output selected? I would like to be able to keep one set of settings and play a lot of different BD with good results.

Thanks for the help in advance.
