Here is my first creation since getting PD12 back up and running. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtCPEZ8Un1I
Enjoy Thanks again all.
Derailed
haha just kidding

IT WORKED!

Here is what I did last night and just getting home from work a couple of hours ago..

-Backed up a few files on my external hd
-Formatted hd
-installed Win7 x64
-installed video card drivers
-installed ethernet, sound drivers
-Firefox
-Norton 360
-Windows update several times until completed

-installed PD12,Wave Editor, and Quicktime
-Updated quicktime, then latest PD12 patch
-I have yet to install all of the content packs

-Ran a test 3 times over consisting of importing several of my videos, playing them in the library, dragging them into the timeline and playing them. Pausing and moving slider around, then play again. Restarting PD12 each test.

So, to sum everything up. It looks as though I had something conflicting within my video drivers, windows, quicktime, and codecs that PD12 needs. Its tough to pinpoint it exactly as I'm not a computer tech, just a somewhat nerd/weekend warrior. Nonetheless, formatting the hd and starting from scratch has fixed the problem.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply and help out, especially optodata. You have all done a far better job than customer service could ever accomplish
Quick update - I decided to try and reinstall my video card drivers and got a series of fatal errors. Something has gone very wrong with my system.

Alas, like Ripley says in Aliens, the only way to be sure is to nuke it from orbit. I'll be back once the hd format is done.
http://adubvideo.net/how-to/setup-proper-playback-chain-windows I followed the directions step by step
Sorry for taking a little while to respond, I had to go out for a bit. Things I have done:

-ran a memory scan, good

-ran an admin sfc/scannow, good

-followed the directions in your other thread regarding multiAVCHD and have followed the directions exactly (I think) but I keep failing on the VC-1 test.

I tried to reinstall it twice. First time I went into programs and features and removed PD12, restarted my system, ran the cleaner, restarted again, reinstalled PD12, wasn't prompted for quicktime, clicked no on smartsound (already installed) , clicked no on wave editor (already installed). Tried running PD12 before running patch 2930 - it still threw the error. After running patch 2930 - error again.

On my second attempt I did everything the same except I uninstalled smartsound with PD12 on the initial step. Then during the reinstall phase I chose to install smartsound again. Still threw the error.

Third attempt. Removed PD12, quicktime, smartsound, and wave editor. Did everything the cleaner requires, updated PD12 and quicktime before launching. Still getting the error here. I'll post my dxdiag as requested.
What steps should I take to do a proper re-install? Any need to use a registry cleaner or something else? Being that my purchase and download was 7 different files and took quite a long time to install, I'd like to do this right the first time. Also, should I re-download all the files for install, or would the ones still sitting in my firefox/downloads folder be ok?
Thanks everyone for your time.
I've been trying to send cs my files via ftp, but I can't seem to connect to their server. I have tried using the k-lite codec as well, but it makes no difference as far as the error message goes. I already have quicktime, vlc media player, and windows media. It seems to me that its just something within PD12 that doesn't like me dragging files into the timeline..
Both videos would import and play, but as soon as I attempt to drag them into the timeline I get the error message. None of my videos, or yours have crashed PD, they just throw the error for me.

edit - I have reported my problem to customer support, and provided a link to this thread. This has been a really disappointing $100 spent. I'll try to keep the faith.
I am running PD Ultimate 12.0.2930.0

Here is one of my clips from a geocaching trip. I used a Fujifilm XP waterproof cam for all of my videos.

When I restart PD and import the video, it will work in the player (before.jpg)
When I drag it into the timeline it throws the error code (after.jpg)

Strange stuff...
Note - I just ran a small test with different file types. I used Any Video Converter and changed the .mov to several different formats. wmv, mp4, and avi. All of these formats also threw the error message on a 16:9 and 4:3 ratio, with the exception of .avi on a 4:3 ratio. Why would this be?

edit - I have taken a screenshot as well as included my dxdiag here.
I just bought and downloaded PowerDirector 12 Ultimate today. At first it imported and played .mov files with no problems. I even produced a couple of videos with it. Just a few mins ago I wanted to make another video and when I try to drag and drop my .mov files into the project, it keeps throwing error messages at me. I can hear sound, but there is no video. I have attached the message I am seeing.

I am running on windows 7 home premium, quick time is fully updated, as is power director, I just updated my video drivers a couple days back too. Any help is appreciated.
