There's something definitely incompatible between that clip and PD12. On my system, PD12 crashes as soon as I try to preview the clip from the library
Boom, it's gone and up comes the Crash Reporter window
OTOH, the clip plays fine when it's in the timeline, and I can play it and move the scrubber around without any problems. The audio plays as well.
I tested it with Windows Media Player (Win8.1) and VLC, and they had no trouble - so it's something about PD12 that's doing it. The first step now would be to make a report to Cyberlink's Tech Support and point them to this forum thread so they can test the clip. Maybe other forum members will have better luck, or maybe it'll fail on all systems.
You said that you had converted the clip to other formats but still had problems except for one 4:3 version. I've converted it to another MOV and to .mkv using FormatFactory (both with 16:9 ratio), and neither one crashes in my library or timeline. I've attached them here, so see if you can import and play these successfully.
