An example - I am pixelating four distinct areas in one video clip to mask two women's "naughty parts" - even though they are fully clothed (it's a joke video). I can do two, using Newblue Pixelator directly in the clip and then again in the FX track. But then I have to render and add another two to the rendered video.
Also - it seems that you can't modify a Newblue effect on the FX track and subsequently move it directly on to the video track.
Many thanks! The temp file retention was set to 30 days, I had over 2 Gbytes that I deleted. I updated the intel driver (mine was a year behind). As it turns out, my intel i5-3570-k cpu does not include hyper-threading. I run program files from a small ssid disk and keep data on the regular hard drive - plenty of space on both (152GB and 1.5TB respectively). I did run the two dxdiag files, I'll run again if problems continue after making the changes you recommended. I really should have waited to reply to your post until after I had worked in PD12 for a while, but wanted to say thanks.
Nigel.
I'm a new PD12 user. My computer is optimized for use as a digital audio workstation (using Cubase 7, Presonus FP12 audio interface via firewire). I have a Powerspec (MicroCenter) computer with 8G RAM, Intel i5 quad processor at 3.4 GHz, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I don't have a graphics card; the Control Panel lists Intel HD Graphics 4000 as my display adapter.
My first PD12 project (a music video) has gotten quite large (numerous clips, rendered movies, FX, PiP objects, etc.) and the program frequently freezes, stops responding, blue screen, etc. Is this caused by not having a video card, or extra video memory perhaps? Or could it be caused by the settings I have enabled to optimize my digital recording?

I use Steinberg's basic settings to optimize audio, as follows -
In the Control Panel -> System -> Advanced system settings -> Performance Settings, you can find the option "Adjust for best performance"
Any energy saving option should be deactivated or set to "none".
Disable Hyper-Threading
Disable advanced power-saving and dynamic performance options for your CPU. This usually needs to be done in the BIOS or UEFI of your computer and includes Enhanced Intel SpeedStep (EIST), AMD Cool 'n' Quiet, Intel Turbo Boost, and AMD Turbo CORE.
Processor scheduling" options, set it to "Background services"

I guess my basic question is, how important is it to add a video card?
Thanks

And Playsound, thanks for the link to your videos. I see I could blur the breasts using the procedures you illustrate. And the beat detection will give me a nice linear timeline since I recorded the music to a click track.
Answers from all over the world - thanks! I think what stevek is saying will work. I have a finished audio track from my new CD called "Imagining You Naked" (link below). I want to make a promotional video to upload on YouTube. It will be a bunch of short video clips: some will be me lip-syncing, some will be videos of fully-clothed women. (There will be no sound on the video clips themselves.) As I sing the words "I'm imagining you naked right now" the videos of women will pixillate in the area over their breasts (even though they are fully clothed, that's my little gimmick). So, syncing the individual clips, and then syncing those in a new project makes sense to me. Here is the song -

As to the pixillation effect, a friend will do that using Autodesk Smoke. I'll just put the clips together with the audio. I've done this before using an older version of MovieMaker; unfortunately the current version doesn't have a timeline or storyboard.
Hi, I am brand new to Powerdirector, downloaded it today. The main thing I want to do is add video to music tracks I have already recorded, mixed and mastered. The music is fixed, the video clips and images, etc need to synch to the music. In many instances I will record a video of myself lip-synching to my music.
I have tried searching for a how-to on this, but everything I have found treats the music as background, rather than the primary organizing aspect. I'm sure someone has made music videos with this software - I would love to find a step-by-step instructional video. Thanks!
