Actually the minimum layout is 5.1.2 for Atmos.

However, while in HTPC processing is possible, I think it will require hardware, OS and PDVD14 modifications for it to happen. Don't hold yiour breath.
I think depends what you mean by implement. Do you mean: pass an Atmos bitstream to a suitable receiver\processor or undertake the decoding to x channels of LPCM etc.

I wouldn't have though the former would present too much of a probem. As to the latter, I can't see it happening in the short\medium term. There would likely be expensive licences to pay, complex set-up and a lot of processing power involved

Exclusive audio always appears to be temporarily unavailable on my system. As no solutions appear to be forthcoming and this feature was one of the main reasons I initiated my 30-day trial, I'm afraid it's bye bye PowerDVD.
I'm interested in this also as I get the same message when playing a bluray on my HTPC. I'm using an Intel Haswell-based HTPC (Win 8.1) which is connected to a Meridian HD621 audio processor. I'm sending 6 channels of LPCM to that processor. I do get audio however. On the same machine XBMC uses WASAPI mode with no issues.

I'm currently evaluating a trial version of PowerDVD14 if this makes any difference
