Quote: Apparently, that "Microsoft Basic Render Driver" is a device always present in Windows 8. It's a sort of "default" driver.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb205075%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
"Starting with Windows 8, an adapter called the "Microsoft Basic Render Driver" is always present."

Your system seems to pass through that driver instead of using your graphic card native driver. Of course, PDVD (and any HDCP reliant software) isn't very happy with that.

Hmm, so what do you think i should do? Everything workd perfect until some days ago.
And some days ago, i could even play all my blu'rays in PDVD on this very same system.

But it got to be a fix to this, the program isnt that cheap so i can just say "Yeah yeah, somtime it will work again"

The only thing i have done after it all worked is, changing my graphics Card from sapphire radeon HD 6970 to sapphire radeon HD 7970.

Should not that say it will work better then with the 7970? As i told support, even if my days for money back is over I will file a refund. I dont want to sit here with a program for $64.00. Its a big waste and I dont want that.

As for the program, they say it's Perfect Your Windows® 8 ????

Here are the logs after reinstall, again... DxDiag is still the same, its working now, my driver is WHQL.

Quote: Hi,

Please check if you are using Hyper-V, which is a Win8 virtual machine, by following steps below:

1. Go to All apps by pressing "Windows Key" + "Q"
2. Control Panel
3. Programs
4. Turn Windows features on or off
5. See whether Hyper-V is checked or not

If yes, please uncheck Hyper-V and playback BD titles again.

thanks
Michael
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Would be nice if you could still help me to solve this. Very irritating to not watch movies.
Quote: Something is stopping your Windows 8 (ugh... Windows 7 is SO much better...) from using your video card directly and pass through that Microsoft driver instead, and I think Michael could be right with the Hyper-V clue.

I can still use Win 7 if i want. Im sitting here and thinking about it.
This is the report after deleting eveything with AMD to do.
Advisor, cant understand it, how can it display a version when its nothign there.

As you can se, even without a GPU I still pass :S
Quote: It's normal you don't have the dual video decoding functions with the generic Microsoft driver. It's also normal you don't have HDCP with it.

You need to manage to get the AMD driver work 100%.

For the newest profiles, just use the latest beta driver (13.2 beta7 I believe), it should have fixed the artifact problem (didn't test myself, I'm waiting for the next WHQL driver). I used many AMD beta drivers before and never had a problem with them not being HDCP compatible. What you NEED to achieve is to have your driver be displayed as "AMD Radeon HD7900 series" or something similar. As long as it's the Microsoft crappy default driver, your system will not be HDCP compatible.

Befor i made this topic i had 13.2 Beta 7, i have now 13.1 as i know is a whql in the install file name.
Now im going to try what you say, so i can not use new profiles with 12.10? Just the new once?

For CyberLink-Michael: I dont know if this have much to do with it, but i found some services of Hyper-V and the box is checkd but stoped, it is:

  • Virtual disk

  • Hyper-V Hearthbeat service

  • Hyper-V Data Exchange Service

  • Hyper-V Remote Desktop Virtualization

  • Hyper-V Guest Shutdown Service

  • Hyper-V Time Synchronization Service

  • Hyper-V Volume Shadow Copy Requestor

  • Quote: The culprit seems to be that "Microsoft Basic Render Driver" to me. That is absolutely not normal.

I attached my own BD advisor report for you to compare. I'm also using an AMD card, notice how the Graphics Card entry for me is "AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series" rather than the generic Microsoft driver like yours.

I'd advise to uninstall all AMD/ATI drivers and redo an install from scratch. Maybe even use driver cleaner if needed to remove any trace of old drivers. And if you can, go for the 12.10 driver for now, since the 13.1 has artifacting problems with some blu-ray discs.

    I see you have:

    Hardware Dual-Video Decoding Capability for H.264 : 1080p+1080p Yes
    Hardware Dual-Video Decoding Capability for MPEG-2 : 1080p+1080p Yes
    Hardware Dual-Video Decoding Capability for VC-1 : 1080p+1080p Yes

Yes on all. How? I will try to use another version from amd, I use driver Fusion to remove traces.
For info, i use K-Lite mega codec too for WMP and Media player classic. I post in some min after do a clean install with that driver.
Can I use the newest crossfire profiles with 12.10?

It is uncheck from befor i write here, as I told you, I useuly good at solving problems on my computer.
But i did and exstra check as you said, and still unchecked. So then it's not that.
Quote: your VGA Driver is faulty.

The DXDIAG log shows that the driver is not certified!
The Advisor shows "GPU (Hardware acceleration) : Microsoft Basic Render Driver"
this driver does not comply with the needed security (HDCP/AACS/...)

Suggest to check if a non beta driver is available for your card.
Remove the old driver, reboot and then install the latest release driver from AMD

I have now updated to the latest reelese driver from AMD, version 13.1 full working driver.
I still get the HDCP error 0110. The last time I forgot to tell you that, when Im playing the movie The Avengers i get a glance of the movie, like what sub I want to have. And then i get the message up with the HDCP error code 0110.

I did a clean install of my AMD driver, I use driver Fusion in safe mode. It was no trace what so ever of the old driver.
The strange thing is that befor i changed my graphic card it al workd well. I now have a better card as you have seen.
So i can't understand what is wrong.

The DxDiag looks like this now. It has changed the first line here that is good.

    DxDiag Notes
    ------------
  • Display Tab 1: No problems found.

  • Sound Tab 1: No problems found.

  • Sound Tab 2: No problems found.

  • Sound Tab 3: No problems found.

  • Sound Tab 4: No problems found.

  • Input Tab: No problems found.

  • I realy also dont understand why my GPU (Hardware Acceleration): Microsoft Basic Render Driver and Graphics Card: Microsoft Basic Render Driver does not say what card I have. When i look at the photos of others Advisor it tells them what card they have in both, why does not mine? GPU say YES and Graphics Card say NO, whats up with this, here are the files again

ASAP I just got a email from whom I buyd the Graphics Card from; komplett.no, this card is HDCP supported, the HDMI I am using supports 3D so I belive that is HDCP ready.

I am also a movie fan, and when i can not see blu-rays Im staring to get realy upset at this program.

    Please help

Hello. >>Nothing in FAQ could help me<<

    I'm new to this forum.

The thing here is, yesterday when I got my new game Starcraft II: Heart Of Swarm I got a 'Behind The Scenes' blu-ray that I want to see. As I am about to play I get up the error Code=0110.

CyberLink PowerDVD is not able to play protected content on your digital
output device. Ensure your display device supports HDCP.-(Code = 0110)

Run the BD advisor tool for more information.

I'm usually very good when it comes to computers, building, programming and solving problems. But this i'm stuck on!
I see that i need a display that supports HDCP i know, but the strange thing is that just a few weeks ago it worked watching blu-ray's.

From that time to now I did only one big change, that is my graphics.
I went from Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 to Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 3gb gddr5 vapor-x ghz edition IN crossfire.

'''' It was when I had HD 6970 it was working fine, playing blu's and what ever I wanted.''''
Not saying the cards i have now is fulty, because they are not.

So what i did today after work was to delete everything that had with Cyberlink todo, PowerDVD 12 and down.
I did a clean in regedit for any leftovers, rebooted, one more wipe in the system for leftovers and another reboot.
Started installing PowerDVD v9 because I was a little clumsy and deleted the download link to the full version of Cyberlink PowerDVD 12 so I needed to install v9 so i could use the PowerDVD 12 upgrade CD I got with it.

I deleted my codecs, just because I have a 'NO' in all of the codecs in advisor but did not help.
Still have a No tho, so didnt help me getting someplace.

I need to say to that I also got the server error 101, but that is solved with reinstalling.
Well, thats what I have done so far, now i will go down on this list in "Must have read" topic.
