I just bought my dvd recorder and hardly understand how to use it. (that is another issue) Anyway, I have about seven 8mm camcorder tapes I want to convert to DVD. I have been looking online about how to convert my tapes to DVD and it seems like I have to buy software or programs to do this. Is this correct?

My first question is~ do I have to buy stuff to get the job done? If so, what and approx. how much am I looking at spending? If it's close to $100, I may just pay a local company for the conversion ($150ish??) if I have to buy some products anyway to do it on my own (and take many hours figuring out). Any guidance would be much appreciated!! Thanks.
oh my gosh! Thank you!!! I found it on the envelope of the CD. You don't know how many hours I have been looking for this. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!
I have just downloaded my powerdvd software. In order to use it, the program keeps asking for a CD Key. I have looked all over (product, box, online, software...) and I cannot find this CD Key. Does anyone recall where they found theirs when they registered? TIA
