I went though the update process again, all looked good.

ran PD10(trial) on my original clip and it wouldn't accept AVC rendering as I couldn't tick "hardware encoding".
Rendered in Mpeg2 at 1920X1080 (also DVD quality) and results were fine, no jerkyness at all.

checked DXdiag and saw that my drivers were still the original ones (presumably wht PD10 would not let me use Hardware encoding - but it did previously???)

Used windows to search for driver updates and it found something and installed it.

ran PD10 and this time it let me use hardware encoding for ACV but the results were as before - jumpy.

My conclusion is that it is when I'm using the card's hardware encoding that the problem is arising?

I did notice an earlier thread on this froum which mentioned problems with Panasonic SD9 and PD8 - I wonder if this is still an issue?

Attached dxdiags of the latest configuration, be interested in your opinions

And thanks to you all

Mark
I've managed to get the setting back OK by using catalyst and deleting the driver I had installed. I notice that the "old" driver is still there, though I thought i had deleted it.

I'll try again later guests coming in 30 minutes!

Well, I've updated the ATI drivers and it doesn't seem to recognise my wide screen display - circles are displayed somewhat squashed!

When playing my original clips it is now jerky as well instead of fluid.

Have I done something silly?

Help!

Post 24/11/2011 14:53:54 Subject: Poor quality of PD 10 (trial) H264 output.
Check to see if the frame rates and interlacing are matched between that of the Panasonic and your rendered video output.

Sorry, don't know how to put it in the box!

Before launching into Randy's updating list, I've tried to check the frame rates and interlacing as you suggested.
The original Pana clip is 25fps interlaced; 9604 kbps.
the various H264AVC formats I've tried are 1920 X 1080; 1920 X 1080p: 1920 X 1080 (24fps) (that's all the 1080 available in the Trial version). All look bad. Just for comparison i produced a clip as .AVI and it was much better, though not perfect.

Is the problem one of not matching the files correctly in the PD10Trial and would it be possible in the full version? If PD10 can't take my Pana clips I'll have to go elsewhere!

Mark
Randy, thanks for the extensive instructions. I'll print them off and try to follow in the correct sequence (having set a system restore just beforehand in case I screw up).

I knew you guys would help!

Mark
Wow, that's great advice all round. Just been away for 4 hours and now looking forward to getting my teeth into trying to update the drivers, tho i guess I will have to take the plunge and get the full edition as well.

jmone you are correct that the Trial limits the settings for hardware encoding.

Hope you guys west of the European pond enjoy your turkeys tonight.

Thanks again

Thanks Fred, I'd seen that and downloaded, but it might have gone when i uninstalled the driver. I'll try again. Mark
Thanks Barry, I tried that but it managed to disable the games my better half uses (solitaire etc). Will try it again and see if it improves.

I'm trying to get Power Director 10 (Trial) to render high quality video taken on my Panasonic SD9. The video is recorded in HX1920 (the lowest quality 1920 mode)

It renders very quickly to H264AVC but the quality is very jumpy compared with the original. Not helped by being a pan shot taken from a moving boat!

I have Windows 7 running on a Dell Studio i5 quad core with 8GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD5700 with 1GB memory.

PD trial 10.0.0.1012a
SR VDE110914-01
I use AVG free antivirus, and there may be remnants of Pinnacle and sony vegas (trial) on the machine.

I've attached short clip of the rendered version, which shows the poor quality, particularly on the white houses on the hillside. (I have tried sending the original as well but the forum link times out)

Also attach the diagnostic files.

Hope you can make some suggestions, I do like the way to edit in PD rather than vegas.

Ultimately I want to produce files that I can play on a HD TV via USB in either my Humax Foxsat (.ts files) or via a blue ray player system USB input.

What am I doing wrong?
