I would like to add to this thread that for those who might still have trouble with 1080p60 files on the PS3, do the above, but use CAVLC entropy coding instead of CABAC. Apparently, CAVLC is a less efficient compression technique, but requires considerably less processing power to decode, making it easier to play on the PS3. I had video stutter problems until switching the entropy coding to CAVLC.

MateuszPK, I have spent considerable time trying to replicate your findings without success. With SVRT turned off in any profile, I get video and audio stutter on the PS3.
However, I would like to thank you as you got me thinking about some of those options. Through some testing and research I have determined that the CAVLC entropy coding will give better playback results on the PS3 and other media players. I was having problems until I started using CAVLC, even with SVRT turned on.

So for those who can use SVRT but still have problems playing 1080p50/60 on the PS3, try using CAVLC entropy coding on High Profile (and remux with FixPD9).

Ron,
I have the Panasonic HDC-SD600, which I think is near identical to your SD900 in terms of optics and file formats. I record in 1080p60 and import the files to my PC using Panasonic's bundled HD Writer software. I then import the resulting file into Powerdirector the edit and produce a 1080p60 AVC file as described in this link:
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/15533.page
I intially had playback issues, but I installed the KLite codec pack Standard edition and was then able to playback fine on my PC. There is the potential for this codec pack to interfere with the operation of PD9, so I suggest installing a very limited number of codecs from that pack to minimize this potential for interference.
There may still be some playback issues with the 1080p60 AVC file created, so you may want to follow jmone's steps in his 24/01/2011 post further down in the thread noted above, to remux the file.
I found this all a bit overwhelming at first, but after reading and rereading the posts from the very helpful senior contributors, I now have 1080p60 edited footage that is indistinguishable in quality from the original 1080p60 footage recorded with the Panasonic SD600.
Hope that helps, good luck.

jmone, I would like to thank you for your time in figuring this out. My problem was identical to corival's and your post was the key to unlocking the mystery. I did not appreciate that producing the file with SVRT on would be the piece I needed to make the playback of my 28 Mbps files smooth on the PS3.
I would like to extend my thanks to the othr senior contributors, whose collective publications on this forum have been a real education for me.

I would like to share that I had a similar problem. After 6 calls to tech support with no solution, I did my own experimenting, and determined that going back to ATI Catalyst 11.1 resolved the problem, and PD9 no longer hangs on startup.

I am still relatively new to this forum, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Though the video card is not high powered, I'm not sure that would matter if hardware acceleration is disabled. I had a similar problem until I upgraded to build 2702. I cannot comment on the status of this problem with build 2930.
