Got in touch with technical support and they gave me the removal tool. I was then able to reinstall PD and it all worked fine. Woo-hoo!
Many thanks for your help, at least I know there is a solution. I will get in touch with them. Shame the cleaner tool is not available on the Cyberlink website. Thanks again.
Hi.

I cannot install PowerDirector 8.

I had PowerDirector on my PC but had to manually remove it due to issues. Now when I try to reinstall PowerDirector, it says "PowerDirector was detected on your system. Please uninstall first."

Then an error appears saying "The product definition file lost."

I have removed all trace of PowerDirector from my computer and from the Windows registry. But it still displays this error message. PowerDirector is not displaying in the Windows Add/Remove Programs list, and I have ran registry cleanup software. I have also ran the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility, but nothing seems to work.

Help! Many thanks.
I had the same problem with PowerDirector not starting. As mentioned in this forum, I removed all Apple products on my computer and hey presto, PowerDirector started working again.

So it would seem there is a compatibility problem between PowerDirector and Apple, perhaps something Cyberlink should be looking to address with an update.
