1. How can I re-download my PowerDirector software again? My PowerDirector download link expired, what can I do?

If you purchased a subscription to PowerDirector 365, you can download the CyberLink Application Manager (CAM) from this page: https://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/application-manager/download_en_US.html. Once CAM is installed and you are signed in, just click the "Install" button next to PowerDirector on the My Programs tab to re-download and install it.

If you purchased PowerDirector (perpetual version) from the CyberLink store, the software download links are active for 30-days, after which they expire. We encourage you to keep a backup of your downloads on your computer or on a cloud storage service. You can re-download the software via the download links in your order confirmation e-mail. If you lost your order confirmation e-mail, please contact customer support.

2. I was using the free/Essential version of PowerDirector, which applies a watermark on my video. I have now bought PowerDirector Ultra/Ultimate (or PowerDirector 365 for Mac) but still have the watermark. How do I get rid of it?

When producing videos in PowerDirector Essential, the free/trial version of PowerDirector, a PowerDirector image watermark will display on the produced video. To remove this watermark, you must purchase the full Ultra or Ultimate version of PowerDirector, or subscribe to PowerDirector 365.

If you were using PowerDirector Essential and then purchased PowerDirector Ultra/Ultimate, you must uninstall the Essential version and then download and install PowerDirector Ultra/Ultimate from the purchase confirmation e-mail you received when you purchased CyberLink PowerDirector from the CyberLink Store. Once installed, the watermark will no longer appear on your produced videos.

Note: when you purchase a PowerDirector 365 subscription on the PC, the program will download and install necessary components, and then automatically refresh to PowerDirector 365 at next launch. If you purchased PowerDirector 365 for Mac, you need to uninstall the Essential version and then download and install PowerDirector 365 from CyberLink Application Manager.

3. I have bought PowerDirector but I can’t find where to input the product key in the Essential/trial version I was using. What can I do?

PowerDirector Essential cannot be activated with a product key. You must uninstall the Essential version first, and then download and install the full Ultra/Ultimate version. The link to this download can be found in the confirmation email received after purchase.

4. When I open certain features in PowerDirector 21 I receive a message that components are being downloaded and installed. Why?

When you first launch the Sky Replacement, Smart Fit for Duration, or and some other of the newer features, CyberLink PowerDirector downloads and installs AI components. This download is required to get the latest components directly for optimization, and apply any recent bug fixes. It also reduces the original build size of the program for faster installation.

Please note that occasional updates to these components may be downloaded in the future for these features to keep them up-to-date.

5. Can I upgrade my current PowerDirector 365 subscription to a Director Suite 365 subscription?

Yes you can by using the same account to purchase a new Director Suite 365 subscription. The remaining days for your PowerDirector 365 subscription will be added to your new Director Suite 365 subscription.

6. Can I install PowerDirector on more than one computer?

If you have PowerDirector Ultra or Ultimate, it is a single license, so it can only be installed on one computer.

7. Why does my video preview drop frames or is incredibly slow during playback and editing?

Video editing requires a powerful computer to run smoothly. If the video preview is lagging or is not smooth on your platform, try these suggestions:

- Enable shadow files in General preferences.
- Select a lower preview resolution to reduce the lag during playback.
- Use Render Preview to pre-render the complex sections.
- Select non real-time preview mode.
- Save the project and close PowerDirector to free up memory. Then open again to continue with your project. Close other - applications while using CyberLink PowerDirector.
- Run on a higher-end computer with more memory and 64-bit OS for editing complex HD projects.

8. Why does a video clip become blurry/lose quality when added to the timeline?

If the video appears blurry or loses quality after it is added to the timeline, please check the preview quality or disable shadow files. See this FAQ for more detailed information: https://www.cyberlink.com/support/product-faq-content.do?id=16454

You can set the preview quality by selecting the icon to the right of the camera icon under the preview window, and then select Preview Quality.

9. How do I get rid of the adverts and pop-ups seen during producing? How do I disable the Windows notifications I get from CyberLink?

The patch update and new product notifications that are seen in PowerDirector can be disabled by deselecting the “Automatically check for software updates” option on the General preferences tab.

To disable the Windows notifications for CyberLink product info and editing tips, deselect the "Receive Windows notifications about product info and useful tips" option. This option can also be found on the General preferences tab.

10. Why don’t I have this feature in my PowerDirector? What features are in my version of PowerDirector?

Some versions of PowerDirector do not include all of the features, for example OEM versions, Deluxe or Ultra editions. Also, some editions include more effects and content packs than others. Click the relevant link for the version you are inquiring about:

11. PowerDirector Mac doesn't let me use this feature?/Why can't I find this feature in PowerDirector 365 for Mac?

Currently, some features in the PC version of PowerDirector are not yet available in the Mac version of PowerDirector. PowerDirector 365 for Mac is a relatively new product, and features are being added every quarter. Check back here in the forum often to see what new features are added.
