PD Ultra Build 8.00.2220 -- Most Fix / Enhance FX don't work; neither does split screen preview

Last week I paid for a download version of PD Ultra, Build 8.00.2220.

One of the main things which sold me was the promised Video Enhancement -- you know, the TrueTheater technology which is advertised as a leading feature.

Well, after testing on a variety of less-than-optimal clips in various formats (AVI, MPEG, WMV) I am pretty sure the following do not work:

FIXES:

--Lighting Adjustment (whther Extreme Backlight is checked or not)
-- Stabilizer
-- Video Denoise

ENHANCEMENTS

-- Video Enhancement

When I say they don't work, I mean that when I move the slider to any position, I see no change whatsoever in the display when the clip is playing , whether working on single or dual monitor mode; there is also no change in the rendered movie. Whereas I DO see changes when I move the sliders for the Color Adjustment and White Balance.

I also don't see a split screen preview when I check that option.

Shame -- this company video showing all these features in action got me excited enough to buy the prgram:

Does anyone know whether these can be made to work?

I am running Windows XP SP3 with an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 ghz CPU and 2 GB of RAM.

lingyai,

Hey we meet again!! Nice to see you. I know exactly what you are talking about, the same thing happened to me when I upgraded to the most recent build.

Some of the enhancements were not visibly working and the SPLIT SCREEN when enabling Stabilization wasn't turning either.

I followed the instructions in this link and was back in good order after I reinstalled PD8 Build 2220. I hope you will be too. Follow the instructions in PART C of the link.

Good Luck and let us know how you make out.

Thanks Kevin. It's a bit late over here but I will try this tomorrow. Although I'm a nit nervous about editing my registry -- I'm a total newbie when it comes to that. Provided I follow the directions to a T, could anything go wrong which couuld damage my system? It seem like a strange thing for a company to ask its customers to do...

It was very simple to do:

You could try just uninstalling and reinstalling first then if that doesn't work then edit the registry, then do another uninstall reinstall. I am not that savvy with computers either, but I followed the steps and had good results.

Good Luck,

Kevin

Hi lingyai -

Nothing can go wrong if you follow the instructions Kevin indicated... yes - to a T!

If you really feel unsure, you can use some software that will do all that for you. Some that I've used are:

Revo Uninstaller (freeware) http://www.revouninstaller.com/
Windows Install Cleanup (freeware) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Absolute Uninstaller (freeware) http://www.glarysoft.com/absolute-uninstaller/

Cheers - Tony

Bummer. I'm beginning to think the only way, perhaps, to prod this company to lose its bugginess is to write some full and frank reviews on Amazon.

Having said that -- and certainly not to indicate any lack of sympathy with your problems -- I don't use it for burning or HD -- so your problems would not affect me. I'm mainly interested in using it for various enhancements / FX on clips, which I then export (as standard definition avi files) for arranging in / burning from a more reliable program (my ancient Premiere Elements 1). So I guess I'm asking, in addition to the two problems you've mentioned, are there any others, of the sort which would effect me?
