Fix / enhance not working (video stabilizer)

I am trying to use the video stabilizer feature but I see no difference in my video no matter where I put the slider (+. Also, the split preview feature only works on the "color enhancement" and "white balance" option.

I downgraded back to version 7 and the stabilizer function works fine on the same video.

Am I missing something here.

Sounds like you have PRE8 build 2207.

You might want to ask tech support for build 2013, and let them know that they broke the stabilization in 2207.

This kind of thing has happened in the past with PD7. A new build comes out to fix one problem and in the process something else gets broken. I see the same thing with 2207 with the split preview and video stabilization not working. Q9300 2.5 GHz

so what do I do in the meantime. The features I wanted and the reason I upgraded simply do not work. I also purchased the ultra package once I was jumping in.

I have the same issue on both a vista machine and a windows 7 machine.

As I said in my previous post, contact tech support and ask them for build 2013. Although, I see that video stabilization is now working in build 2207. I have no idea what I did that caused it to start working. Maybe saving the project, exiting PRE8, then starting it up again.

I did not see your post Xerox, but thanks.

You hit the nail on the head. If you save the project and then reopen it, it works.

I guess this is a workaround, but I have a ticket open with tech support, so we will see what happens.

Thanks again.

Another thing about build 2207 is that the DVD subtitles, the ones that you can turn on and off, seem to be working correctly. They weren't working correctly in 2013.

Where are these builds, again? No they are not listed on Cyberlink's website. That's odd... Do people that pay for the software have access to them and are they notified they are available for access at their convenience?

Those are probably rhetorical questions.

I emailed tech support and asked them to provide me a link to build 2207. I have already paid for PRE8.

Although it seems slightly odd, I think actually it does show CL in a good light.

I think these "informal" releases are often in response to specific problems and are released, usually to those, or a sample of those, who have experienced and reported the issues, to test if the solutions work prior to perhaps incorporating fixes into a more comprehensive general release.

Having a responsive and helpful forum (fortunately or unfortunately??) tends to highlight these interim releases.

So for example, 1930 seems to have an issue with smartsound and menus (compared to PD7), 2207 seems to have made several things better but that particular issue worse, but CL are aware of that and will no doubt fix it - maybe in another interim release? or in a more general one.

I admit it might feel frustrating but I look on these interim releases, some of which I have and test, a bit like beta testing - interesting but often tedious - along the lines of 2 steps forward and one back (if you're lucky )

Cheers

Well, I spoke to tech support today. They gave me a liink to download build 2207 and instructions on how to remove what I had on my system. Needless to say, I already had build 2207 and even after redownloading and following removal instructions, it still does not work.

I have this issue happening on both a vista and windows 7 machine.

So at this point the only thing that does work is what Xerox suggested about saving the project first---and you have to do this immediately after importing your media and before placing it on the workspace.

This is very frusttrating. I paid for an application that simply does not work.

Ivor -

I'm not sure what you were asked to do, but when you uninstalled did you do a complete uninstall, according to these instructions? They usually do the trick!

thats the one they gave me to follow. Part C.

If you ask me there are some serious issues with this application. At this point I am considering a downgrade back to ver 7 and then looking at another product in the future.

Ivor -

When you say "it doesn't work", do you mean it won't start up?

I am using the same version and it behaves itself pretty well... so many times it happens that PD behaves differently on different machines.

Honestly - whenever I've had to re-install, following that procedure works invariably.

Ok, Here is what happens.
Open power director
import media file
place media file into workspace.
click the fix/enhance button
select video stabilizer

Nothing.....the features do not work.

THE WORKAROUND
after importing medai, save the project, close down the app, then open the app, place the media into the workspace...and then it works.

This is happening on both my vista machine and my windows 7 machine, so it is no a hardware issue nor do I believe it is a driver/software issue as tech support tried to suggest. The reason....why did version 7 work on the same systems.

There is something wrong with this version.
I would love to get it sorted out, but I am not going to spend weeks trying to find a fix to something I paid good money for.

If you have suggestions, I am all ears.
Thanks

You know Ivor, sorry to jump over your thread but I am about to pull the plug on Cyberlink. I am still waiting for the i7 multiple core bug fix and the 32 bit multiple pip tracks 2gig ram bug fix. Cyberlinks apparent fix for the 32 bit bug is to upgrade my operating system to 64 bit.

I struggled for months with PD7 bugs and now PD8 has different bugs, I do not enjoy being a beta tester for a product I paid good money for. When I paid my money I paid for a fully working product....I will stop now as my frustration is building. I hope Cyberlink gives you a solution to your problem.

Cheers

I agree.....I am not going to waist too much time with this. If I don't get resolution, I want my money back. I am not paying for something that does not work.

Sorry I wasn't able to help. I agree that it's unsatisfactory when promoted features of the product don't work consistently. Your frustration is completely understandable & what OnTheWeb said, some weeks back, about Cyberlink's customer base is very true.

Robert -

This forum will be all the poorer without your contribution. I know you've done a lot of "beta testing" and many have benefited from that. Though many will be sad to see you go, your reasons are totally valid. No one could say you didn't give it your best shot... but it's hard to go hang gliding when your sail has holes.

No doubt about it Tony if I do leave Cyberlink I will certainly miss your wit and humour.
