Usually, is a question was answered corectly, it's good to stay up, for others that might have the same question. That's why is good also to come back and report success and what worked.

Anyway, you can't delete a post or a thread, unless you are a moderator. You can edit it for a while (don't know for how long).

Point taken and thanks, I dont have any reason to delete the post just wanted to know the protocol and yes the information I got was very helpful indeed..

If you're referring to this thread, the ideal situation is to go back and scroll down to the reply that you feel answered/solved the reason for your post, and then click on the green arrow/text to highlight the post for future readers:


You can also edit the title in your original post to add the word "Solved" in there somewhere, as can be seen in other thread titles.
