PD 14 - crazy lag on a specific motion effect on a single title track

Hallo everyone.

I am dealing with a crazy lag that is happening only when I am using a specific motion effect on a title. The effect works like this: In the beginning of the subtitle, I set my preffered size and at the end I want it to be bigger so I make its size bigger. After the use of this motion effect the whole program lags and this is happening with just THE TITLE TRACK, no video or audio inserted on the project and the preview window set to LOW. I have tried to unclick both hardware acceleration on preferences but there was no difference. Is this a bug? Is there a way to fix this? Can anyone on later versions verify that this is not happening there? Thank you.

Hi,

I read your other post here and I think what Barry meant was that, without knowing the specific font and size, or if happened with all fonts and all sizes, or the exact steps you were taking, it is difficult for others to test and offer suggestions.

I have just tried a simple scale and position keyframed title similar to your image example with a couple of fonts in PDR14 and all worked as expected.

Cheers

Thanks very much for posting the DxDiag results. They show that the driver for your nVidia GT 740 is from last Sept., so here's the final version that will still let PD14 utilize the GPU hardware encoder for producing. Do not update the driver to v416 or higher.

See if things improve with the newer driver.

It's ok we had a private talk with Barry, everything is good !!! It was my mistake to think he was picking on me. Everybody is trying to help here and I am very thankfull for that !!! And after your post I found was was causing the problem. It was the specific font! I have changed to several others and it seems that in rare cases there are some fonts that the program cannot handle this effect with scaling. It crazy though because the problem appears directly after I open the program. Every click with the mouse doesn't correspond immidietly. it would be interesting to know if somebody has the same results using the same font in newer version of PowerDirector. So this is the link of the fonts, it is called rimes Times Six. https://dl.dafont.com/dl/?f=crimes_times_six Thank you very much for your help !!!

It seems that the problem was the specific fonts I used. I am still curious if this is happening to newer versions too. Here is the font if you like to test it. https://dl.dafont.com/dl/?f=crimes_times_six thank you very much for your help!

I'm very glad you were able to figure out where the slowdown was happening. I downloaded the font and tested it in PD14 and PD17. While PD14 had some stuttering when previewing, I didn't see anything like the slowdown you saw. I also noticed that the preview resolution had no affect on the smoothness, which tells me the issue is buried deeper in the font processing code, not in the display/rendering part.

The good news is that PD17 was much smoother, and I could easily preview it in Full HD mode. There was only the slightest stutter near the end, but nothing out of the ordinary.

One thing to keep in mind is that my CPU has twice the number of physical and logical cores as yours, so it's twice as powerful. However, PD17 seems to handle this particular situation better than PD14, so I think you'd benefit if you upgraded.
