I forgot how to enable "Exclusive mode" in PowerDVD?

How do you enable exclusive mode on PowerDVD?

You know, the mode that makes the app full screen and when you want to minimize the window it says:

"YOU ARE ABOUT TO LEAVE EXCLUSIVE MODE"

The gamma (black levels) are better in this mode. But I forgot how to enable it.

Does anyone know?

If you are not talking about audio exclusive mode, for video, the exclusive mode is very close to "playback in full screen".
Just enter full screen when playing video, then it is exclusive mode.

No, that is wrong.

Just maximizing the window / going fullscreen doesn't enable exclusive mode.

There was a way to do it.

When in this mode it locked fullscreen mode.

When you wanted to minimize or resize the window a pop up would come on the screen saying:

"YOU ARE ABOUT TO LEAVE EXCLUSIVE MODE" click ok to continue.

I think it was with 3D content but I'm not sure.

Now I can't enable it again because I forgot how.

Maybe it was a Windows 7 thing? Now I'm on Win 10.

System:

Asus Maximus X Apex
GTX 1080Ti
Latest drivers
Epson TW6700 3D projector.

Nvidia set to limited mode gamut for best quality on this display.

I didn't say "playback in full screen" is "identical" to exclusive mode.

Perhaps you need exclusive mode for your own specific purpose (e.g. color space BTB/WTW 0-255 displaying?).
For the color space, that's mostly by gpu implementation and processing on different version OS.

powerdvd does not have the options to enter exclusive mode specifically, only full screen or not full screen.

I don't understand what you mean.

When I was on windows 7 I think there was an option to disable Windows Aero within the Powerdvd bluray settings...? I remember a popup showing up saying:

"Playback cannot be enabled in windowed mode. For xxxx will be full screen only." I dn't remember it exactly. But it was a non Windows Aero popup. Almost like classic mode.

Or something like that. When I clicked yes, THAT was when you entered esclusive mode. You could not MINIMIZE the powerdvd window or a popup would show up saying:

YOU ARE ABOUT TO LEAVE EXCLUSIVE MODE ARE YOU SURE?

This "forced full screen" mode to my mind had much deeper blacks in full screen than the normal full screen mode.

Now since I changed my computer to a 8700K, 1080Ti and Windows 10 I no longer get the same "exclusive full screen option" option.

What do you mean with BTB/WTW 0-255?

I am running on an Epson 3D projector TW6700 which is rated at 10 bit color.

My nvidia control panel only offers 8bpc output color depth or 12 bpc. Someone said set it to 12bpc and the projector will handle the rest.

I also assumed I had to set it to "limited" dynamic range in Nvidia as opposed to "Full".

Do you know what any of that means?

The Windows 7 Aero theme has ceased and integrated into new version Windows.
For Windows 10, the Windows style is transparent by default, which has the same transparent viewing effect from earlier Aero glass.
I don't think the Aero theme/mode turnning off option will appear for your powerdvd on Windows 10.

For the nvidia panel's 8 bpc or 12 bpc settings, apparently your projector does not support 12 bit. So, this setting won't help your projector to output 12 bit video or better video.

Honestly, those settings are unlikely to largely improve the viewing quality on your screen as there are not much video contents that are encoded in 10 bit or require to use "Full" dynamic range color to display.

The Windows desktop items can be displayed in 8 bit color depth perfectly without color loss.

What is BTB or WTW?
If you don't know it, I suggest you just leave it (or google it). It is far away from software player's playback.

Thanks. 8 bpc and 12 bpc dont make a large difference, but I would like to set the correct option for a 10 bit display. At the nvidia forums some one advised setting a 10 bit display to 12 bpc and that the display takes care of the rest, so that's what I did. Why set it to 8 bpc if the display can handle 2 bit more.

As for btb wtw, Setting limited or full makes a big difference in the blacks. If you set to full the blacks are crushed alot,... No gray levels......

Limited mode, the gray levels are perfect. So that makes a bigger difference.
