I want my PowerDirector 8 to do the following. I can not find a way to make it happen.

1. Render using CUDA to minmize rendoring time (works great when I create an H.264 file manually).
2. Create the output in a YouTube compatible format - preferably MP4 (m2ts causes YouTube to choke).
3. Create the file with these specs: 720x480, 3MPS, 30 fps, Stereo at 96 bps, compatible with YouTube "HQ" quality.
4. Automatically upload the file after rendering.

I don't want to have to create a file, convert it with MediaShow, then upload it.

Thanks for upgrading PD-8 to make the above possible.

Hi Roy,

There was a lot of work done for PD7 on youtube stuff - a search on wmv profiles will give some info like :-

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/5455.page

Dafydd has a tutorial on it, check out this
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/2843.page

The PD8 youtube options have 6 .wmv output formats which are controlled by these profiles.

Personally I've always used the non-PD youtube upload and converted my own files and I haven't tried the PD8 upload yet.

Cheers

Thanks for the info. I will check out the links.

The problem with PD8's using a WMV output is it doesn't use CUDA (the graphic card's hardware) to render. I'm discovering that using PD8 output that exploits the graphic card reduces rendering from hours to minutes (quite effective). I purchased a top of the line Nvidia card just to exploit this feature of PowerDirector. I only used PD7 for a little while before upgrading to PD8, and it seems like PD8's file output options are a regression from PD7. If Cyberlink would create a "pre-set" profile for YouTube output that created a reasonably sized/quality MP4 using CUDA rendering, then uploaded it, I would be happy. The current profiles only create a 320 size file (mobile device). Uploading an MP4 with the specs I mentioned previously allows YouTube to create a very nice HQ file for view, that looks nice even at full screen viewing. I've done a lot of experimenting with YouTube upload formats, and the settings I've noted produce the best results with the smallest upload file.

P.S. Love your bike!

The best format I have found for youtube is PD default standard wmv 720p. I tried the HD youtube default set by PD but for me with so much fine detail in my Hanggliding videos the bit rate was too low for me. By the way Dafydd's video on making your own setting is pure gold.

Also even though Youtube will accept m2ts, which is a format that PD will use CUDA, the playback from Youtube chokes and does not playback smoothly. This may also be the reason Vimeo will not even accept m2ts format.

Here is a 2 minute video I uploaded yesterday actually testing this.

Can someone provide a link to this video?

I've created my own profiles, but can't find a way to create what I'm looking for. Perhaps this video will help me.

I've looked at most of the postings by Dafydd but dont' find a pointer to this video.

Thanks!
