Hi all,

I keep getting the error "RichVideo Module stopped working and was closed" at project load time, and sometimes while editing.

Any ideas?

Why are you posting here....surely "Windows" notified you of the solution?

Ya.. I wouldn't have gone to Vista if I had an XP 64 license. Microsoft gave me two free licenses for some testing work. Vista is just alright.

Vista SP2 was released today, so I'll probably have other issues shortly...

Does anyone have a comment on the initial error?

Hi Michael,

Can you tie it down to any particular type of situation?

You could try turning off the RichVideo options in Edit>preferences>general and see if that affects it?

Cheers
Adrian

Additional finding:

Problem only seems to be caused when working with raw MPEG 2 files. Import from AVI, or direct from VOB file, works flawlessly with either rich video disable or enabled.

I'm still testing, but that seems to be it. I'll know tomorrow night for sure when I assemble something large. However, in one project I replaced the MPEG 2 sources with VOB sources and the problem has gone away. However, in this project I have not re-edited all the cuts, pastes, and revisions at the end of it. So if I do that, and the problem is gone... then the problem is probably solved.

I'll post the result.

Resolution:

I had been taking previously burned DVDs and converting them into raw MPEG 2 files so I could break the files into less than 1 gig size.

I have ceased this, since working directly from the VOB files seems to work flawlessly.

Easy enough workaround. But for those who might have this problem, it usually only shows up when using multiple cuts out of the same MPEG 2 clip, in and out of order.

Recreating the edits from the VOB files worked fine.

So work from VOB files in cases like this.

From my standpoint: resolved. But ti would be nice to work with smaller files.

Go for a simple uninstall - reinstall, that might correct the blip with Rich Video.
