power director 5.0 wont let me add media files to the timeline. Can you help?

every time i drag a media file into the timeline it comes up with 'Power Director has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.' And it then shuts down

1. Uninstall PD and then re-install - you might have a corrupt installation.

2. What is the file format of the media file you're trying to insert?

3. I'm not using PD5 but it would help if you specify what build version you're using. Look in in Help > About.
