Particles say they're installed successfully but I can't see them

When I try to install particle files by double clicking them they say they are installed successfully but they don't appear in the particle room. I'm running Powerdirector Ultimate 16.0.2524.0 which I've installed to my D: drive as my C: drive is a small capacity SSD
