Custom size/aspect ratio - am I just being ignorant?

I've been using PD for quite a few years now and use it for only one thing - creating videos to go in PowerPoint presentations. Up to now, my presentations have been 1024*768 so I simply created a custom wmv profile accordingly.

Now I've changed my projector and wish to use its native 1280*800 resolution (16:10). Can the editor even be set somehow to 16:10? If not, why not? I imagine I could create a production profile for 1280*800 but then the aspect ratio would be screwed...

Any suggestions? Why is it so difficult? Do I really have to switch to Corel VideoStudio to do this?

Not sure how that helps me with the editing question. I already know how to make the production profiles but I also want to create my videos in an editing workspace that is in 16:10 ratio.

Just make thhem the standard 16:9, so they can play on a HDTV too.
