PowerDVD 16 Ultra (non-trial) fails to playback 3D Bluray on an Intel Skull NUC (nuc6i7kyk)

Good afternoon PowerDVD fellow users and support team,

I am trying to playback a 3D Bluray ISO on PowerDVD 16 installed on a Windows 10 Pro installation on an Intel Skull Nuc (nuc6i7kyk). PowerDVD claims my Intel GPU is not outputting a 1.4 signal and is not capable of 3D playback. The NUC is plugged into an LG OLED55E6V which is 3D capable and playsback 3D movies on my Xbox One S. I started off trying this on PowerDVD 15 where it did not work and thought maybe this was an issue with older PowerDVD software and the new Intel GPUs, but upgrading to PowerDVD 16 did not fix the issue.

Intel drivers are the latest version for this GPU: Version: 15.45.2.4481 released at the end of July. The Intel GPU is capable of 4k/60Hz playback using HDMI 2.0, so it should be backwards compatible with 1.4 as well.

Please let me know what you think can be done to resolve this issue. Thanks.

Hello Hicham,

No I have not, given your reply, I assume you want me to do so and will get in touch with them to open an official ticket. I have also raised this in the Intel Nuc official forums.

Regards,

Percy

Hi, Mr. Percy,

Both your Intel Skull Nuc (nuc6i7kyk) and LG OLED55E6V supports HDMI 2.0a, so 4K@60Hz with HDR should be fine. 3D Bluray should also be fine. However, Do you know your NUC support HDCP 2.2?

Both your Xbox One S and LG TV support HDCP 2.2 so you can play 4K UHD bluray disc.

Thanks

Hicham,

I am in contact with Cyberlink support, but I am going around in circles. They are just trying to give me support solutions on their "script", or at least that is what it feels like. This is not an issue that is going to be fixed sticking to the support script (I think).

I have also raised this issue with Intel and they have escalated it:

https://communities.intel.com/thread/106294

My support ticket with Cyberlink is #CS001657171 if you want to or can see what I have been going through.

Audrey, in response to your query, yes the NUC lists HDCP 2.2 in its spec here:

http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/NUC6i7KYK_TechProdSpec02.pdf

On page 19.

I am pretty sure this is more likely to be an issue on the Intel side with the display driver, but it could also be an issue with PowerDVD and compatability between HDMI 1.4 vs HDMI 2.0. Not being an expert on HDMI I do not have enough knowledge, and it is more likely the issue is with the GPU driver not sending something to PowerDVD that it expects to see for 3D playback, OTOH Windows 10 says it is good to go for 3D content playback.....

Percy Cuscaden
