Hi, when I use XAVC files, I noticed that when I have the Hardware Video Decoding option enabled, it isn't being used. See screenshot, under GPU load.

You need to look at your GTX750M, not the HD 4600. On my system, here's what the two GPUs look like when using hardware encoding to XAVC S:

EDIT: my screenshots were made while producing. Is your CPU at 79C when playing XAVC S videos?

I have the nvidia card disabled as the Intel card works faster for me. In encoding, hardware encoder works. I'm referring to hardware decoding, which I also tested before with the GT750 and was also not being used. Weird. I have HW decoding and OpenCL on and below is what I get when previewing an XAVC S clip in the timeline. I'll disable my nVidia GPU and see what the HD 4600 does on its own. I'm still concerned about how hot your CPU is running, though!

It's similar to yours, which implies there just isn't much hardware support available from the HD 4600 for XAVC S

Your situation maybe a little unique. You are using shadow files and they are still generating (orange film strip lower left corner of clip in media library). I believe, once generated, your playback is really a lower resolution MPEG2 playback, really needs no acceleration.

Similar issue was also shown and discussed here: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/25/45503.page I'm not sure if Dafydd's comment was insight or not, I see nothing in the beta release notes that would indicate it was addressed.

Yes, I do have shadow files generation because there is no hardware decoding for XAVC S files, so in order to edit flawlessly I have to use shadow files. The same applies to both the Intel and Nvidia cards. What I don't understand is why there is no hardware decoding support for these files when they are in fact just AVC files, which the hardware is capable to decode. Maybe this is another issue with PowerDirector. Main Machine: Jetway NF9G-QM77, Intel i7-3610QM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3GB, 128gb SSD, Windows 10 Pro

Ok I switched my machine from Intel Graphics and Nvidia GT750M to dual GT750M which deactivates the Integrated graphics. Here are some more screenshots

The first screenshot is the encoding of the project in a custom 4K XAVC preset I made with 200mbit/s bitrate and in which you can see the GPU is being used

The other two screenshots are of each of the Nvidia GT750M, the first one is the primary integrated GT750M. The second one is the attachable GT750M, none of which appears to be using GPU power to speed up the videos.

I assume you have Decode selected in Pref > HA ?

Do you see any load when played back from the media library, not the timeline?

Yes, I have decode enabled. I'll check the load later in the media library, but I can assure you right now that in me media library they play fine, but not in the timeline. I'll post the screenshots later since I'm not home at the moment Main Machine: Jetway NF9G-QM77, Intel i7-3610QM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3GB, 128gb SSD, Windows 10 Pro

Ok, here's what I found. I recorded a test footage with my camera, Sony FDR-AX33 in 2 modes. The first test was recording with an XAVC 4K 60Mbit/s file. GPU was used in media bin but not in timeline, but in the second test, which was an XAVC 1080p 50mbit/s file, it did used the GPU in both media bin and timeline. Also, I tested an old file from my canon camera which was AVCHD and it also used GPU in both media bin and timeline. It seems the issue is with 4K files, where in the media bin it uses the GPU but not in the timeline. I attach some screenshots.

To see the GPU usage, look at "Video Engine Load"

So it seems I'll have to use Shadow Files until this issue is solved... Main Machine: Jetway NF9G-QM77, Intel i7-3610QM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3GB, 128gb SSD, Windows 10 Pro
