black screen for videos and pictures

I've just moved to powerdirector from Serif, and I've been having a problem with some files not showing on the preview screen. The thumbnails on the timeline and the list of files show the video, but then when I try to watch the preview it's just blank for those bits. The files I've had a problem with so far have been JPG and AVI files.
Any help would be appreciated!

Do the sample files show?

Tell us the version and Build of your PowerDirector
Also give us the Diagnostic of your computer. No personal information is in the Dxdiag.txt file.

Also, try version 2048 if you don't have it already. It might address this issue.

Hi,
now all of a sudden I have the same issue. IT seems that only photo in certain resolution/aspect ratio are affected.
I had pictures taken from my G3 phone. the ones that are taken vertically are not displaying while the one taken horizontally are.
if I crop the image or do fade in they are shown. otherwise, nothing.
