Importing PD6 Title slides into PD7
[Post New]
Hi Dafydd and Co,

Back after a bit of a break away. Got a bit adventurous and started playing with PD7 - nice! Looks like it is keeping you guys busy!!

So, Any tips on how to import my old title slides from PD6 into PD7? When i try to import from PD7 menu it appears to be looking for .dzt files and my PD6 title files are stored as .png files. I'm sure there is something silly I'm missing here Any hints great appreciated

Many Thanks as always you guys are brilliant

You can use PNG-files in the overlay-tracks with blue-screen

Hi Georg,

Thanks for that reply. I'm assuming you were refering to the use of colour boards.

I have been able to pull in the .png files into my library areas and can place it in PIP tracks etc. However, this results in the loss of my animation etc of the title slide I have designed.

I guess my question is more how can I import my old title slides into the title room from the PD6 folder? Is it possible to do this or should I cut my losses and rebuild them again? Any tips on this would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

David

I try it and mean, it is not possible

I make the following workflow:

- open PD6
- open a titel in the titel-editor and change the font
- save it as an own titel
- I found the titel in the directory "own files / cyberlink / power Director / 6.0 / My titles
- there is a own directory "titel_000" with two files (CLT and XML)
- I copy this directory in the same folder under PD7 on another PC
- open PD7 and take a look in the titel-library
- I don´t find my titel there

Perhaps there is another trick, but in my way it don´t work.
In the PD7-directory for own titles I find 25 PNG-files and CLT and XML Viele Gruesse Georg

Hi,

While Georg is on the right track he is wrong in his conclusions.

Please check out
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/1945.page

Look at the attached image.

The same rules apply to making your own title templates as laid out in the link provided. You can create a semi-transparent png etc etc.

Remember to edit the created file as shown by Robert and then add your animation effects. Then save the file.

Please also note there are two Title save locations for PD/PP to call upon:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\CyberLink\Downloaded Titles
PD
C:\..\My Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector

I just copy and paste the saved titles to 7.0

Hi Dafydd and Georg,

Thank you both so much for your help. Thanks Dafydd for the link as well.

I have resorted to making the title slides for PD7 again. After posting yesterday I had a go at just copying the PD6 files from :\My Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector\6.0\MyTitles into \My Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector\7.0\MyTitles. Thought I could get away with this but PD7 references the files in a different manner it seems. I opened my .clt and .xml files with note pad from PD6 and compared them to a title I customed in PD7 and they were some what different. Any way I have been mucking around and have found the .png file performs the same in PD7 as in PD6 so I just have to redo the title slide in PD7. I guess I was being lazy hoping that the title slides would drop into PD7 from PD6 words and all! Out of curiosity is it possible to run PD6 and PD7 on the same machine without conflicts? My PD6 was removed on install.

Cheers and thanks

Hi,

I lately expect others to pick up on information quickly - sorry, I perhaps should have directed you more explicitly when i gave you the link to Robert's write up on the Watermark title.
I hope the following titbit of data helps.
1. Change the custom folder name - to anything other than the default naming style
2. Edit the name of the file within the xml - to one you recognise (David001 etc)
3. Ensure the images it calls upon are located within the folder and the addresses to those file have been correctly set in the clt file.
4. You are using the right Aspect Ratio of the saved Title template.

The aspect ratio = each title template has two versions 4:3 and 16:9 these will only display in PD when they are called upon - Aspect Ratio setting.

You should then be able use your created templates - Customise versions within PD7 and just transfer the from 6.0 to 7.0.

I have written all this from memory, if any part is slightly off I apologise.

Hi Dafydd,

Your first reply was fine - the link you gave me was the one I was looking for from last year that helped me make my 1st water mark so thanks for posting that as my searches were not bringing it up!!

Interesting enough was that I had modified my PD6 files and had transfered them across into PD7 as you described and this did not work for me the first time. I then created a title in PD7 and went back and compared the .clt file and .xlt files of my PD7 and PD6 and tried to replicate the PD7 info into the PD6 file and changed them in note book without any luck. But I was doing this late so I may have goosed up most likely! I will follow the post Robert wrote as I understand all that with no problems - very well written it is! 1 observation that I noted the same as Georg was that in the new PD7 titles I created, there is the .png file, .xml,.clt but with this is 25 files called Thumb.png which appear to represent the different stages of the watermark fading in and out. I never had these in PD6 titles and this might explain why my PD6 titles are not being read by PD7. Anyway it is all good fun!

The one thing I did want to clarify - am I able to use PD6 and PD7 on the one machine without it causing any conflicts / clashes with in each other provided I change the install folder name for PD6?

Thanks again for your help - greatly appreciated as always!

Kind regards

David

Hi Dafydd -

I just found out that when I shut down PD7 and restarted it after a windows update all my titles are now being read by PD7 and work as they did in PD6 - LOL

So sorry to bother you with this - I didn't think to shut down and reboot after transfering the files across into the PD7 folder!!! DOH!!!!

Anyway, I learn't some new stuff so thanks very much again - I am enjoying the software and it is bringing joy to the household once more!!!

Kind regards

David

You should only need to shut down PD7 and restart it to have access to any Custom title transferred from PD6 Custom Titles.

No need for a full re-boot.

Earlier question: PD6 Deluxe and PD7 Deluxe/Ultra can not be on the system together - one or the other.

Hi Dafydd,

I was trying to down load the files in RobertJ's post step 2 and I am getting an error:

"The requested file could not be found. It probably was deleted. Click here to go back to the topic."

Can you redirect the link back to the file for me so I can down load it?

Cheers

David
