Hi All

DO NOT INSTALL UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THESE MESSAGES FIRST

Just a cautionary note that PD12 patch v2209 DRAMATICALLY SLOWS DOWN OPENING AN EXISTING PROJECT AND ENTERING CREATE DISC MODE as compared with v2109.

In fact, it was so bad I tried and failed to revert back to v2109 as every time I tried to open PD12 with v2109 it instantly crashed. Grrrrrrrrr

Obviously PD12 patches are not backward compatible.

I HAD TO PERFORM A TOTAL REMOVAL & RE-INSTALL OF PD12 TO REVERT BACK TO V2109

Here's my results:

Project is 5 minutes in length with various FX's, transitions and titles.

V2209 Opening Project: 4 mins 12 secs! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Opening Create Disc Mode: 3 mins 25 secs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

V2109 Opening Project: 34 secs
Opening Create Disc Mode: 18 secs

What is going on?????????? Fist pumping the air

Is anybody else having this issue?????

SUMMARY: IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL, TEST YOUR OWN OPENING TIMES BEFORE INSTALLING UPDATE

I too am seeing projects taking many minutes to open and it is also slow on the Produce tab. During this time the CPU is getting hammered by both the PDHanuman and PD12 processes. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Hi Nathan

Try reverting back to v2109 and then opening a project that you have NOT opened with v2209 and see if that works, it might mean you won't have to do a complete re-install

***EDIT - does not work, just tried it! ***

Thanks Neil - I've found that after saving the project it will open in a more reasonable time the next time but in clicking between the "Create Disk" --> "Produce" tab is taking minutes. During this PD12.exe process hammers the CPU but I can not see any related HDD activity (I thought it may be trying to produce shadow files or something....) Weird. OK - there is more to this. When you close PD12 it actually is taking some time for the processes to be closed. Also PD12 becomes "not responding" for me when navigating from the "Create Disk" --> "Produce". There seems to be a lot of CPU and Memory swap activity occurring up until it hangs.

To answer my own question, I just ran the original "1_CyberLink_PowerDirector12_Ultra_VDE130819-01.exe" I downloaded which did an uninstall then install. Ran PD12 entred the serial # again, then ran the 2109 Patch.

Everything is back to opening in seconds (not minutes) and no probs with navigation between tabs or hangs.

I just re-installed PowerDirector_2027_Ultra_VDE130822-02 and then installed patch v2109 too.

v2209 - yuk!

Strange, what you quote is a PD11 patch.

I'm guessing the v2209 patch has a mem issue. By comparison V2209 uses about a third more memory than V2109 from start up and the swap activity seems very high. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Yes, Neil. I saw that also yesterday evening. I came back to level 2109, and my projet, opened with last patch in more than 7 minutes, open now in 20 seconds......

I hope a patch for the patch will be very soon delivered by Cyberlink. Jean-Paul

My experience with PD over the years:
- if it works on your system as is and you are happy, don’t touch the patches
- if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it

Just something.

I'm getting the same, its taking ages to open projects that I am working on and that I wanted to finish today. Surely they tested this before they released it.

1Nina, problem is PD12 still has many flaws in it even though a number of them were reported many versions ago and not fixed so we all apply the patch's in the vain hope that the one flaw that annoys you the most will get fixed in an update.

I hope they are fixing this one right now as I have been on the verge of moving across to a more professional program for a very long time and this may be the push I needed.

Same issue here also. Takes forever to open a 5 minute project, takes forever to save a small edit, locks up constantly.

I have installed the 2209 patch, I do not show any slowing down of opening a previous project.

I tried several old projects that were still on the hard drive, they all opened at normal speed.

I guess this is a computer specific problem.

Hi, Carl, I am happy for you.

But I have three friends, using PD12, who have, as I have, this issue.
In my case, with level 2209, I load a project in 7 minutes. Coming back to 2109, the same project loads in 20 seconds.

The same thing for my friends.

So, is it a computer specific problem?

I can see in your signature that you have an ATI graphic card. I have a Nvidia card, my friends too.

We are as you are, with Win 7 64 bits.

Is the problem coming from the nvidia graphic card?

I think it would be a good thing if Cyberlink had a look on this.

EDIT: I just see that Neil has also an ATI card. So. Bad idea.
