Why limiting Produce to Removable Disk-SD/SDHC/SDX...-Memory Stick??? **BUG**

I have a few USB "My Book" USB (removable!) HD drive and PowerDirector "is not" letting me choose the drive letter any of them are ssigned to. Selecting "Removable Disk" or anything, I can't select them.

Windows see them as "internal" drive, but anyhow, WHY is PowerDirector 12 "dictating me" why I can output my work???

I need to PRODUCE to AVCHD "directly" to my USB external drive... HOW??

Again, WHY is PowerDirector 12 "dictating me" why I can output my work???

Thanks
Sylvain

It's a bad start if Windows is not recognising your drive correctly. That needs sorting out first I would suggest.

I have no idea why PD has this restriction though the AVC spec does say it is for removable media and Windows marks USB HDD as HDD unlike Memory Cards / Thumb Drives....so unless you can find a Windows hack to change how the USB HDD is "seen" then the only other suggestion I have is to first burn to a Memory Card / USB Stick and copy to your folder of choice on your USB HDD. What gets me is WHY is Cyberlink trying to play me like if they were my mother???

Hello! we're production people AND PAYING Customer!

I'm the only one who know WHY I need to produce to any drive for any reason, NOT CYBERLINK.

Again, WHY is Cyberlink not letting their Customers (US!) who pay them $$$ decide what they (the customers!) do with the software they purchased?

Just show a list of all the drives and we'll manage the rest, please! Cyberlink, are you listening??? amazing.....

VE2FET,
I do not disagree, or agree with your point, but we are not Cyberlink.
You might try the Cyberlink Facebook page, to air your thoughts, but I suggest a less smarmy tone.

Sorry, fixed!

PD is great, but producing is so long that if we have to start to copy production ouput left and right after it's produce because we can't generate to the precise location we want to it's just more wasted time, anyway, my point is well explained.
Thanks again

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. (see below)

He wants that flexibility but from the Create Disk --> 3D Disc --> AVCHD / SD etc or Removable Media section which does not allow you to pick a Drive or Directory, just a USB Connected Thumb Drive PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Then perhaps he might consider amending his post heading (and even his post content) to properly reflect the nature of his issue?? Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. (see below)

Unsurprisingly, I'm confused.

Here, I can produce to any connected HDD - internal or external. I can create a DVD/BR folder on any external or internal HDD or USB device.

Sounds like Longedge's suggestion might be correct.

I can't see any **BUG**

Cheers - Tony

If you want to produce to a device like a hard drive, why are you not just using the "Produce" section of the program?

Disc (with a "c") is normally an optical disc made by burning information (ones and zeros) to the disc; whereas a disk (with a K) is a unit like a hard drive (or other memory device). If you notice, the fourth section is titled "Create Disc" (with a "c")

Perhaps a little time with the tutorial videos would be a great help.

Now you are changing the game (again).

Go to Create disc and output to a folder set on your hard drive. Copy that folder set to a memory stick. Find a program that will play the folder set. I'm not sure that the FREE VLC will play that folder set but you can try.

Do you know of a program that will do that? Where do you plan to play it?

Do you know what a folder set is? It has everything including the navigation. Unfortunately this program does not allow you to make an image file which can be played with several computer programs including VLC. .

It does nit allow me to select the drive I want, read my first message. Why limiting the choices to what Windows thinks to be "removal" drives and not let the user decide by themself?

Here it is, no way to select any drive (drive letters) that we want, it offers just a "subset" and they must be seen as "removable" by Windows. Why this limitation by PowerDirector?

Yes it does; you can select the location for the folder set (see image). I asked if you knew what that was. You have not answered that question. . I think that you can't have everything you want if you don't take the time to learn the program.

You end up with a folder set of audio_TS and video-TS. The audio folder is empty, the video folder has everything that in in the video (including the audio and mrenu). If you open the video-ts file and select the first VOB file, they will all play. I just tried in with VLC. I'm sure other programs will work also.

As I said above, this program will not make an IMAGE file (ISO). That is not a bug; it is the way it is designed. I have other programs that will make the ISO fiel.

We are going around and around with this - you are playing the yes-but game. Why don't you tell use exactly why you want the video on a thumb drive. Perhaps if we know that we can be of more help. I am giving up on this thread. I must be missing something and I can't determine what. I have given you options but they don;t seem to be exactly what you want regardless of standards. Perhaps others can see your dilemma and offer solutions.

I've just put up a picture in the message before yours.

Maybe generating AVCHD 2.0 files and directory structure is something you never did here's why you don't get it, but PD does it, it just does not allow us to select where exactly, those are just files and directories... I see you are trying but PD does not allow for this, it allows to create those AVCHD/BDMV/... structure on a memory stick since we can plug those sticks into any AVCHD 2.0 compliant device (ie. TV, Blue Ray readers with USB ports, etc) and play the created projet). But WE also need to be able to generate anywhere we want since we can access those AVCHD 2.0 directory structure from anywhere, network, USB HDD drive... so again, why limiting us as of "where" to have the generated output directories and files go??

Thanks.
Sylvain
