DivX support
[Post New]
Their website says they "support" divx but I can't get it to import or Produce to a divx file!

Hi, Old Hippie,

What version of Power Director do you have and what build number?

When you go to produce is the DivX icon greyed out? if so you have a codec problem, Power Director cannot find DivX.

Try downloading the latest DivX and see if that makes a difference, if that still does not work, uninstall and reinstall Power Director.

Regards

Robert

PowerDirector version 6.00.1604a
DivX Player 6.7.0
DivX Codec 6.8.0
DivX Converter 6.6.0

The DivX icon is not grayed out. The file name starts a simulated file name to save with an .avi extension, not .divx even though I click the DivX icon.

The Import shows no Divx files to bring into the project.

Today, a more serious problem. In the Create Disk, I was editing the names of the chapters and some how it got a square box in the text and could not go to the right of it to back space (remove) the box with the mouse or key pad.
I deleted the custom menu and went all the way back to the Edit of the video. The names of my chapters were screwed up.

And tonight I can't even burn a DVD. I'm getting a "Burn Failed" message with error code eb020b02. Hell, I can't even find the words Error, Code or Error Code in the Help file!

At least I could burn a DVD with it up until tonight, not using DivX files and with no Menu, but NOT NOW!

Is this software still in BETA? If not, it sure is buggy.

Hi Old Hippie,

Before you try anything else, update to Power Director 6 build 2319, click on Downloads link above, find PD6 and click on updates.
http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/download/dl_patch_417_4_ENU.html
Build 2319 also includes build 1731b

Robert

Ok, updated to 6.00.2319

Went to the Chapter Room. Clicked the "Insert chapter at the start of each clip" button. It created the chapters correctly, ie: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. I right clicked the chapter name, left clicked "Rename Chapter". Dialog box pops open with Chapter 1. I change it, click the check mark, NOTHING! Still named Chapter 1.

Hi Old Hippie,

Umm, will have to take this one on notice for further investigation as I am unable to recreate your problem.

In the meantime go to Create Disc and see if you can change the chapter names there.

I will see if the Welsh Wizard can provide any solutions.

Have all your other issues been resolved with the update?

I don't think it crashes as often as it did before I installed the update but it's only been a couple of days.

Can't burn if using a menu with chapters. I get that error code and number I mentioned earlier. The Help file does not contain the word "error" or "code" so no help there. I'll ask about that in another Topic. I can burn without a menu (Create a disk without a menu) checked.

I can change the names of the chapters and such in Create Disk but if I change the font size and color, save the Project and close and restart PowerDirector, go to Create Disc again, the chapter names on the left hand side have my font changes but the ones on the right and the Page numbers retain the default font size.

Old Hippie.

I see Robert Jeffree has been assisting you and giving you some sound advice.

DivX issue was caused by a poor installation.

As for your Chapter issue.... this makes me think it's a PC/OS issue causing the program to run incorrectly. If you've carried out a uninstall re-install as per my instruction and still have problems then you need to call in a PC techie.

PART C
Uninstall and reinstall of PowerDirector

I have not nor has Robert been able to replicate your problem. The error message is linked etc.
You will need to provide a diagnostic file.
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/2405.page
PART B
Create a Diagnostic File

The problem you have appears to be localised to your PC only.

I know, I shouldn't have built this BRAND NEW computer for myself at Christmas. Darn new stuff, never works as good as the old stuff. Funny though, the other software I use to burn DVD's works flawlessly, just didn't have the whistle and bells (chapter's and menu title's stuff) like PowerDirector has.

I'll get around to the "blowing everything away and starting over from scratch" in a day of two and be back then with a Diagnostic File, but I tell you now, my hardware surpasses everything on the System Requirements list.

I answer most questions from memory - so occasionally I get a cross wire.

In an early version of PD (I think it was 1515) I had a problem installing and DivX failed to display. I corrected the situation after I did an re-install of the OS.

If QT is prevented from installing it mucks up PD because QT is integrated into PD.

Take a browse through the forum and you'll not find YOUR ISSUE (on Chapters) mentioned anywhere.

I'm glad you can build PC's, like many of us can do - ours function though. (That's my tongue in cheek barb that's intended to make you laugh!)

Diagnostic File would be useful.

What's the DVD writing software you have on the PC?

Test actions:
1. Uninstall PD
2. Uninstall the DVD write software
3. reinstall PD
4. Go make a project and create a DVD.

I would also suggest you Create to a folder test first.

Dafydd

Provide your actions in bullet points 1,2,3,4, etc so others can replicate.

Ok, I think I found the problem with not being able to change/edit the chapter titles.

When I go to the Chapter Room, right click to Rename Chapter, I can NOT right click and "Paste" my changes. I have to type the edit.

If someone will verify this and if this is correct, send it in as a "bug report" or let me know if this is a "my problem".

Thanks

Thanks,

It does show you failed to provide a list of actions for us to follow, if you'd done that the issue could have been replicated.

And the DVD issue?

Ok, here:
1. In my previous message start reading from "When I go...".
2. Substitute "I" for "You".

What's the DVD writing software you have on the PC?

Nero 8.1.1.4
Alcohol 120% 1.9.6.5429
ConvertXToDVD 2.2.2.256
PowerDirector 6.00.2319
DivX Player 6.7

All work fine and are fast except PowerDirector which takes about 30-45 min. to make a DVD after pushing the "go" button. Of that 30-45 min., 3-5 min. is the burn, the other is processing the menu(s), etc., or what ever else it's chewing on for so long.

I'm not going to "shoot the horse" (un-install and re-install) every piece of burning software I have just to find out PowerDirector has some bugs. This is "pretty in pink" software, something that's not essential for me at the moment.

I'm hoping it's just a "my, me, mine" learning curve and someone, other than yourself telling me to spend hours blowing all my burning software away and telling me "go here and press such and such button and try that because I had the same problem and fixed it in an instant."

Who's expecting you to "blow" all your software away - I haven't suggested that. THE TEST IS JUST A TEST.

Please contact Tech Support: http://www.cyberlink.com/english/cs/support/new_site/support_index.html

I was genuinely interested in finding out what your issues were and localising the cause. If you'd been more forthcoming with information earlier on and understood the need then I could have got RD involved. You appear to mis-interpreted a lot of what I have written. I have provided you with a link to Tech Support for you to pursue your issues there. As you appear to be antagonized by me asking you a question, I will not, nor will I pin-point the likely cause of your problem which I could. I will closely monitor your postings instead. Kindly ensure you stay on subject.

Dafydd
