When I try installing the update it just shuts down the installerprogram and tells me it stopped working due to a runtime error...

The update for powerdirector worked fine..

Is there a bug in the installer program for the update?
I'm running windows 7 64 bit..

Though you're the first to report a problem with the PhotoDirector patch download/installation, there have been issues with other CL software (trial downloads).

I'm unsure what triggers the runtime error, but it's come up a few times recently. Here's one example http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/25224.page - on that page there's a suggestion about uninstalling & reinstalling the Microsoft Visual C++ packages.

Do you appear to be getting the same symptoms?

Yup, I've read thar one.. Tried the suggested fix (uninstall-install visual c packages..), but there was no help in that..
What puzzles me is that the programinstaller for powerdirector worked just fine..

First I tried photodirector update and got the runtime error shutdown, then I tried powerdirector and it worked like a charm. After that I uninstalled all the visual c packages and reinstalled them in the right order and tried again with the same runtime error shutdown of the updater...
