Quote I can't conquer this and it's making me crazy. It ruins my videos and requires work-arounds to disguise it that aren't what I want to do and don't work that well.

When fading in or out on a light (sometimes dark) sky scene, I get this weird 'shimmer' thing. problem clip -- ten seconds on Vimeo and you have to watch closely. Also attached a screen shot here. Can someone please help?!?

Note: I render with LRTimelapse and the results are fine ... PD puts on the shimmer.

Hi Nick

I think the fact that you are not getting a great response may be down to the fact that what you explain is very difficult to see. However, I had a look at the still under magnification and could see what I thought might be due to, too higher an ISO setting creating some noise. I don't know if you were using manual or auto settings, but checking the ISO may be worth a try.

Also, have you checked "Reduce Blocky Artifacts" in preferences > produce - Reduce Blocky Artifacts.

Robert

Thanks ... it is hard to see in what I posted but it's there. ISO varies and it's not high when this happens; it varies. I am stumped and it's frustrating. Maybe I can find a worse example and put it up there ...

Also ... my original render from LRTimelapse is unaffected with no problems ... it's a PD issue.

That's why I said this: Also, have you checked "Reduce Blocky Artifacts" in preferences > produce - Reduce Blocky Artifacts.

I've had another look and I think it is something to do with compression. If you produce in H264 try H265 or XAVC or visa versa.

Thanks will try! Appreciate it, and everyone's help.

Hello,

For me this is a "compression" problem and not necessarily through PD14 but possibly of your support card (SD or better). It happens many times. Have you tried an other editing prog to compare?

Success!

As a last resort, try rendering in Quicktime, I've heard that it handles banding very well

Thanks again everyone ... still working on it ... AVC and H265 helped a bit but still there. Alain, not sure what you mean by support card' ... you mean my computer graphics card?

>Alain, not sure what you mean by support card' ... you mean my computer graphics card?

No, the support on which you record your raws of your camera. Check if other (SD?) cards give this also or if you have this effect in an other editing prog?

Alain is quite right. Make sure your card is speed class 10 and UHS speed class 3

Yes my memory cards are good ... thanks. All my images are fine until PD is used. I've tried some different producing parameters in PD and there's some improvement. Still not eliminated though, but some progress I think!
