wow, this is great help. Thanks everyone. Once this post officially closes as solved, will I be able to access it again?

Hi, Angela!

Yes, you'll be able to find the thread in the Forums list for PD14, but after a while, it will be buried deep down in the older posts, 2, 3, 4 or more pages back. You may have to don your pit-helmet(with flashlight) and carry your pick-axe to go digging deep into the bowels of the PD14 forum archives..... only joking! But, yes! You'll still be able to find this post and thread, but probably for reading only as it may be "locked".

Cheers!

Neil.

Quote: Even though Angela has resolved her immediate issue by using fades rather than blur transitions, I thought I'd post this...

Some transitions, when applied only to a resized PiP Object (whether it's a clip or an image) DO affect the whole screen, including the background video. FACT.

In PDR, it's been that way for a good while & was discussed here - https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/38560.page#198884

The video I posted then (2014) still applies to PDR14 & I still can't explain it:

Neil - inserting a colour board then applying chroma key to it results in NOTHING. The process you suggested above works only for particular transitions & NOT for a blur transition.

In the timeline setup below, with blur transitions applied, I got exactly the same result as Angela did in her original post. The whole screen is blurred - not just the PiP Object.

Oops - Missed it by thaaaat much, Chief!

Yeah, Tony, you are correct.

But I employ the old "suck it and see" trial & error method to see which transition effects will affect only the PiP without affecting the endire image. Can be a pain in the you-know-where, but it gets the result I'm after. And as Barry has alluded to, Cyberlink still has a mountain of work to do in getting things right with Power Director.

Cheers!

Neil.

....and there is 'bookmark' (as in you CAN bookmark a thread within the forum even) ... could be used to go back to a thread later so... just saying.

Oh, in that case, you won't be needing the pit-helmet with flashlight and pick-axe then, ay?laughing Cheers, Angela!

Here you go - possibly the most completely useless document ever published!

I started trying to work out some kind of pattern in how transitions in PiP affect the background image or clip. This led me to a very long timeline with every kind of transition (maybe not every Adorage or Vitascene one!).

Well - I didn't really find a pattern, but I did come up with a completely useless list! embarassed

Transitions in PiP act in different ways...

The attached PDF is the list of which transition does what when applied in PiP.

Hi, Tomy!

The top one in those images looked like you used one of the two Threshold transitions. When I get some time up my sleeve, I'll do a bit of experimentation on the transitions(other than adorage and Vitascene) and provide a list of the useful transitions that won't affect the background(main) image.

Cheers!

Neil.
