I'm guessing this post will probably go down as "girly stupid" by some,
but never the less I'm going ahead with it.
Following you eager guys in this thread I keep remembering a post way
back in July (July 1) by "floridagator"- who was struggeling with #9.

He wrote:
I have never had a program that required so much maintenance as the Power Director PD9.

At the time it made me kinda smile. So many were uninstalling, cleaning, reinstalling, activating,
cleaning again....and for every patch it seemed to go on like this.

Some of you will remember I did not go for several of the patches. I just didn't want all
the work and possibly mess up my computer. I had problems with PD9, sure, but what the
patches announced to fix, wasn't addressing the problems I had
(which was,BTW, the strange use of CPU + .mp4 not working at all)
So I waited. Just waited- until more patches were released. I finally "upgraded" PD9, to
the build "runner up" to the latest. The latest did not include anything that would fix
more quirks I had, so why go through the hassle?

Dropping in on reading what you guys are occupied with, "floridagator"'s words come
to mind, almost on a daily basis

Just something.

I hesitate to say this..as I am afraid my computer might hear me, but I have never HAD to uninstall/re-install Powerdirector (version 3-10). If I bought a new computer, I just installed it again and went on with it.

When a new version (8 to 9, etc.) gave me trouble, I found that more HDD space, more RAM or a newer video card always fixed it (except for the little BUGGY things that need fixed in the program).
Even the patches have been kind to me over the years. It just WORKS for me.

I have had MUCH more problem with the video drivers messing things up, but I learned early on the value of RESTORE POINTS!!.

Now if saying this starts to make it mess up, I will be really sad!!!

Well, I think I went off a bit, because if I had bothered to look more closely, I'd see the pack is just menus, but they ARE nice menus, to be sure.
But patch, pack, or not, PD9point10 is quite good so far. They gotta fix that title goof-up, though.

Couldn't agree more! I used to have an ATi 5770 but changed to the NVIDIA card I now have. When I first installed PD10 it wouldn't open. After much investigation I discovered that the ATi software hadn't been uninstalled properly and certain ATi services were still running. I stopped them running, deleted various ATi registry entries and finally PD 10 worked!

Nina, I can't agree with what you saying - this version has been far more stable than the disastrous PD 9 launch.

From your signature it appears that your machine is FULLY Capable for running PD10 without problems, and just (For the record), I think upgrading to PD10 is the best way to get all the issues resolved.

A couple of people are having issues installing, patching, registering, like on this thread...but I do NOT think these are related to the program, or widespread.

Just an unscientific observation/opinion...so no one should FLAME me on this statement, ok???

Hi all,

well, I would find it somewhat strange if I should not have been
able to run PD10 on my system. I run other, more complex editors
on it- without any problems.
As it is, I will wait for the next release to come out. I suspect #10 is an
in-between release, and as I do not harbour interest for 3D editing ,( steroscopic/
anaglyph), I don't see the major other benefits I would have during some
months with #10. PD11, I suspect, will be a different thing all together. And who knows;
maybe the 3D-thing is premature to CL's market-segment.
Browsing and reading through different forums, I understand that people, who
have really moved on into the 3D-thing, are using more than 1 NLE- switching
between them for different stuff to get what they want. 1 NLE has better rendering,
another better options in sbs editing, another with menues and burning etc.
Others might read this differently, but I read it as early days for 3D editing -
in the "common population".
In forseeable future, I will not be able to invest in 3D-equipment living in this
country with the purchase-costs we have here. I am not saying that no one
here, among the "common population", do not have 3D TV etc., but I certainly
do not know of anyone among people I know. If I was to produce a 3D video
with the intention to show friends and relations, it would only be "horrible" to
watch. I also am aware of where my editing skills are. I am very much in the
process of learning. The 2D editing, together with a little x,y,z -flare, is giving me
so many, many challenges still. So many "hidden" options to explore and
try to fit in meaningful contexts. The "canned" options NLE's give are a fine
start, but they are just that in the end; a start.

The main and most important thing is, and will be;
a stable program which does what it says. Nothing more, nothing less.

Just something.

Hi Nina, PD9 and 10 can exist together. Why not download the trial and give it a go?

Going back to an earlier post for a moment...

Experimentation has revealed the hanging and crashing of "Set Aspect Ratio" (even after installation of Patch 1012) varies by file format. For example, MPG, MP4 and some flavors of AVI will open the dialogue box Okay, but any attempt to make a selection will cause a hang and crash.

However, WMV and MOV clips will display an empty dialogue box, which then hangs and crashes.

It may be that it is only an issue on my machine. I do understand that PD10 is at the mercy of an infinite number of hardware-software configurations. So, I will learn to accept this and live with it.

Note that I also posted this under Set Aspect Ratio.

Any one applied the patch after getting the free upgrade from 9 to 10?
In my situation, the patch corrupted the exe. After the upgrade all was fine. But, after the patch, I got an application error 0x0000007b.

Any thoughts? Win7 64bit Ult., EVGA X58-E758, i7 970 3.2GHz, Corsair 30GB, HDs: Kingston 240GB SSD, 3TB WD, 1TB WD, Radeon 6870 1GB. Dell U2711+Asus VK266H. Logitech Solar Keyboard + Logitech K750. Razer MousePad

What worked for me was to install PD10 again over the original PD10 install, the re-install will remove the previous PD10 and install and fix any registry entries that I think are to blame for the no patch record.

Anyway the above worked for me, you don't need to do the content packs as they remain, once done try the patch again.

Wow. Nice trick. It worked.
So, the steps are:
1. Install the upgrade from 9 to 10. TWICE
2. Install the patch.

And it worked. Thanks. Win7 64bit Ult., EVGA X58-E758, i7 970 3.2GHz, Corsair 30GB, HDs: Kingston 240GB SSD, 3TB WD, 1TB WD, Radeon 6870 1GB. Dell U2711+Asus VK266H. Logitech Solar Keyboard + Logitech K750. Razer MousePad

Guess what, I faced more problems with my previous projects.

That's it. I'm going back to PD9 till all issues are resolved. Win7 64bit Ult., EVGA X58-E758, i7 970 3.2GHz, Corsair 30GB, HDs: Kingston 240GB SSD, 3TB WD, 1TB WD, Radeon 6870 1GB. Dell U2711+Asus VK266H. Logitech Solar Keyboard + Logitech K750. Razer MousePad
