My old version of PD7 stops working, will do everything except create a disk, simply crashes when I try to do this. Unwillingly I pay for the upgrade to version 9 of Powerdirector after trying the trial software (successfully). The real software is much larger and I pay by paypal.

So what next:

1. Sound is corrupted when bought into the time line (mp3 wav etc..), check forum, yes bug, apply patches and remove klite codec pack. Sound still corrupted, not as bad but corrupted (noise harshness crackles). Worse still the menu system music really shows this up badly. Odd thing is I have one project I can change and save and there are no sound corruptions (all same music files), simply a different (2nd) half of the AVCHD movie.

2. New projects have sound corruption on menus and within file, both AVCHD and MPEG

3. Produce doesn't have sound problems on it's output?

Figure I might as well reinstall PD9, as that's the usual 1st recommendation, did that around 10 minutes ago. Tried to enter reg (product) key and it's not working says it's incorrect. I check my e-mail, Cyberlink have cancelled the order for non payment and deactivated my product key!?

My situation now....no Power director, Money taken from my Paypal account by Cyberlink 3 days ago and for the short while I did have it, it wasn't working properly. Way to go Cyberlink!

Hi there -

You've obviously contacted Customer Support about the problem... yes? The only person on the forum who may be able to help you out is the moderator.

There certainly are some audio issues, particularly with MP3s & some SmartSound tracks. Hopefully these will be resolved soon!

Cheers - Tony

Thanks Tony, yes I have contacted customer support via the web form and supplied them all the relevant information required to verify the payment. I suspect that they will be far slower to respond than they were to take my money and nothing much will happen until I follow up numerous times.

I'm not expecting Cyberlink to do much about fixing the sound problems, based on past performance with PD7. I think it's going to be a matter of "doctor it hurts when I lift my arm"...."then don't lift your arm".

P.S. Problem is happening on my system with .mp3 .wma .wav and Cyberlinks own built in menu sounds! (that blue box that unwraps to music)

I had the same problem with the registration key when I uninstalled and reinstalled.
What I did wrong is I installed the program, content and the 2930 patch and then opened the program and put in the registration key and it said it was incorrect.
I then rolled back my Windows to before I installed the Cyberlinlk and then installed the Program PD9 only and put the registration key in and it worked.
If you did it the same way as I did i.e. did the installation of PD9, Content and 2930 update with entering the registration, that might be the problem.
See this thread.

It would be great if it was that simple, but no, they really have reversed the order and kept the money, see the attachment below?

Amazing, it's as if the previous claim to non payment had never existed. Suddenly all my records show the transaction as having completed and being paid in the members area and I was able to register power director. Of course you would think I found this out because my support ticket had been replied to....no not a bit of it, no reply to the support ticket, looks like they just fixed their systems as if it had never happened and didn't bother to let me know.

As for the sound, well it seemed to be random as to whether there is problems or not, but as I have been able to play with the software again, I think the problem is partly down to the amount of audio gain in the files being used. There may also be some more subtle effects on the exact encoding of the file, as I found an MP3 file could not be used within the menu, PD didn't allow it to be used. Then when re-encoded (with audacity) at the same bit rate, suddenly it could be used?

Gpoing to try te larger project now and see if the audio problems have gone away for a bit? Intel Quad Core, NV 8800GT, Vista (32bit), Canon Powershot TX1. Editing 1280x720 (p) NTSC 30 fps motion jpeg in .avi container....to AVCHD DVDs for Blu Ray playback
