Have you tried downloading the trial again?

You may have gotten a bad download.

More memory is nearly always a good thing, If you have a 64 bit OS, it will benefit from 6 GB or more RAM.

I would guess the runtime error is a bad download.

I know the download is over 400 Megabytes and it takes time. But if you have a bad download, nothing is going to fix the problem until you get a good download.

And you will not know for sure until you download a second time.





I am sorry to say, but still appears PD11 Ultimate Suite Trial Downloader runtime error, and not the second time I downloaded the downloader, I've downloaded dozens of times.

Again, these are the downloaders that give the error:
-Power Director 11 Suite Ultimate, Ultimate, Ultra (Trial)
-Color Director 1 (Trial)
-Director Suite 1 (Trial)
-Photo Director Suite (Trial)
And probably many more.

Downloaders they work correctly:
-Power Director 11 Deluxe (Trial)
-Photo Director Ultra (Trial)
-Media Suite 10 (Trial)
-AudioDirector (probably WaveEditor 2) (Trial)
And probably many more.

Not that I want to download all these programs, I just wanted to show you which ones do not work (ie, those who give Runtime Error).

NO, Audior Director and Wave Editor are not common and the runtime error is with the installer, and this is a problem I saw in beta testing PD11, wave editor is installed when you install PD10 or PD11 it has nothing to do with AudioDirector!

If for some reason wave editor does not get un-installed from PD10 when you install PD11 then you will get the run time issues.

The only fix is to remove both PD10 and PD11 and then clean the registry and install packages, I'm afraid this will require a high level of computer knowledge, and too complex to explain here, an easier way is to re-install your OS and start again.

I hope some of the other suggestion here work for you, but I do believe it is an issue with Wave Editor.

and I can download the trial installer without downloading the downloader? It would be a way to avoid runtime error .... I do not care to go slow downloading, I just want to download the trial....

I am sorry it is not that easy, the installer has nothing to do with downloading, it is the application that unpacks the download, sets the registry values, creates the program folders and initiates the various programs, in your case I believe it is getting to the Wave Editor stage and reading a conflict in the registry with the previous version of Wave Editor that it expects to find installed.

More complex than that simple explanation but I hope you get the message that the fix is complex, perhaps Dafydd when he gets on will recall the process for recover, if it is the problem you face

The first things I'd suggest (after reinstalling Microsoft Runtime Library) would be a registry clean (with CCleaner).

In windows the file is downloaded by the browser as an EXE file, once clicked on the INSTALLER (CL may call it Downloader) takes over and unpacks and distributes the de-compressed files and Dlls' according to a script written by the programmers.

I wish the OP well in his quest to recify his problem and now the 'real' experts are on the job he should be up and running in no time

The screenshot clearly shows that the 936KB CyberLink_PowerDirector_Ultimate_Suite_Downloader.exe has been downloaded & was in the process of running when the runtime error occurred. That's why I asked the question.

In the posts above, people were referring to installation errors. It would appear to me that JackLet has not yet even downloaded the 4.92GB installer files for Director Suite yet.

As was stated repeatedly, the error occurred when running the downloader - which needs to download the 790MB CL_PUS120816-03.exe file before it "unpacks and distributes the de-compressed files".

My understanding of JackLet's posts is that he/she hasn't got past first base with installing Director Suite Ultimate.

Last post on this for me! comprehension of the written word seems to be the problem here. to download any trial from CL requires downloading the file from CL or a host.

The full file is downloaded via the users browser and is placed on his computer in the form of an executable or sometimes a zip file. If he was to receive an error at this stage it would be browser related or OS, nothing to do with the program that hasn't been downloaded

The OP confuses the file he downloads because CL call the installer the 'downloader'

Either way the only way the OP can see the image he posted is when he has clicked on the file to install it on his computer. On this basis he must have already downloaded the file, which he confirms in one of his following posts:

Installation errors have occurred during beta testing of the full early versions of PDR11 (not the Utimate build) and Cyberlink resolved by accessing specific folders in the registry and other locations. Editors answering you here are not using the Trial builds.

This editor, in the interests of veracity, went through the motions of downloading one of the programs JackLet advised was throwing up the error... PowerDirector 11 Ultimate.

The attached screen capture shows that the CyberLink Downloader indeed downloads the 400MB packed installer file. The point at which JackLet received the error message is at about 0:28 in the screen capture, before ANY installer files were downloaded.

Hence - any talk of installing & uninstalling is pointless & unhelpful. There may have been some confusion with terms. That's what I was trying to clarify.

Non beta testers like me would, of course, be unaware of any previous issues.

Yes I've installed it, even I have a newer version. And yet the downloader gives error.

I know ynotfish has uploaded a video of the downloader, but I've uploaded an unlisted video to youtube of the downloader error.
