Transition Room Enhancement Requests

Howdy, Cyberlink Gurus.

I use PDR to edit all day long, and two things about the effects rack (Transition Room) are quite cumbersome and slow me down.

  • Consistent Landing Selection

Each time I press F8 to return to the TR, it's anybody's guess what will be selected. Sometimes "My Favorites," sometimes "All Content," sometimes "General," etc. It would be mighty fine if the TR would remember what was last selected, so if I go to Audio Mixing Room and back, I don't have to re-select the desired bank of effects.

  • Effect Duration Selection

The only place to select the default effect duration is to Alt-C to preferences and modify, which affects all transitions. My wish would be two-fold: Firstly, how about an editable field right in the top bar of the TR where I can modify this. Secondly, it would be awesome if I could set the default duration for any given effect to override the global duration. For example, I never want to perform an elastic effect any faster than 1.0 seconds, but I also never want a standard fade to be any slower than 0.3 seconds. If I could edit the properties of a transition and tick an "override duration" box, that would speed up my editing about about 15%, I'd guess.

Thank you for your consideration.

Your first issue is clearly a bug and it was reported last July in PD20. Unfortunately it still persists in PD365/21.

Your second idea is one for Rate Us & Provide Suggestions from PD's File menu. This is a user-to-user forum and you likely won't reach the right people by posting your wish list here.

The best workflow I can suggest to deal with both issues would be to try and apply all the transitions with the same desired duration in a group, then change the default duration and place the next group.

If that isn't viable, clicking on the clock icon at the top left edge of the timeline after selecting one or more timeline transitions will let you set them all to the same length, which seems like about the same amount of work as your proposed "override duration" box.

Thanks for the reply. I'll post that as a suggestion per your direction. Cheers!
