I believe that PD uses the Rotation flag in the video header which specifies that the video is to be rotated 90 degrees when played. Unfortunately not all players respond correctly. Drag the clip onto the MediaInfo online tool and click on the Download MediaInfo report button to see the full details of the clip

Thank you for your recommendations. MediaInfo online indicates clip has the correct width and height value for a video in protrait mode, but the rotation value is 90 (degree). I don't know why PD introduced this 90 degree rotation in the video header, as I didn't "ask" PD to apply the 90 degree rotation, but to keep to the original video in protrait .

VLC player shows the movie in the upright position but with black spaces on either side of the visible area of the video.

Is there a way to edit the Rotation flag in PD or other software?

Thank you for pointing to a post which might explain similar issues. However, the issue which I had doesn't come from the attempt to produce a clip in protrait mode from a video in landscape mode. In my case, I want to produce the clip in the same protrait mode from a video also in protrait mode, while maintaining the same resolution.

In the above mentioned post, there is information about producing a video with 90deg rotation flag. I don't really know how apply or edit rotation flag in PD, as I couldn't find any information regarding "rotation flag" in PD's help secttion.

Following is the quote from the post mentioned above:

"However, there are 2 basic ways of producing a 9:16 video for display.

Using 1080x1920 HD as an example :

Produce a 1080x1920 video with no rotation flag

or

Produce a 1920x1080 video with a 90deg rotation flag.

Both, no doubt, have their pros and cons but I understand that producing a 1920x1080 video with a 90deg flag has better compatibility with display hardware and software. I can't really comment on that, above my technical level!!"

I understand your issue but pointed to the general necessity of taking into account the implementation of the Orientation Flag, which cannot, to the best of my knowledge, be user defined in PDR, when producing 9:16 AR output from within PDR.

Utilities like ffmpeg and exiftool can do metadata editing, if you are comfortable with using them.
