Hi NA (hopefully not an acronym for Not Applicable) -

I am running a very similar system to yours, with a bit less RAM - http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/8445.page but I'm not experiencing any hangs, freezes or crashes. It just goes to show the vagaries of PD (and probably other software) when it's used on different systems... &, in this case, very similar.

I know that's not a solution to your problem, but it does indicate the possibility that the root cause of the problem may be outside PD.

I guess when you uninstalled previously you removed all registry traces before reinstalling... yes?

Cheers - Tony

I have a similar system (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS) and experience the same problems. Unfortunately, it make the product useable. I tried setting the program to the high priority, but program exhibits the same behavior. If there is no work around, it may be time to move on to another video editing software. That would be a shame since PD 8 has a number of very nice features.

I just purchased Verion 8 software ... runs fine on my old HP machine ... but I ran out of disk and it was slow ...

so I purchased anew Dell computer ... it has 8 gig of memory, quad processors and a terrabite of hard drive ....

I am using Dazzle adaptor to upload video from my vhs player. It starts recording about it stops at about 20 mg no matter which vhs tape I am uploading.

It just hangs ... and I eventually have to stop the program and reboot the computer ... I initially put the software on my old HP computer and it worked fine but was too slow and did have enough hard drive ... so that when I bought the new computer. It runs the new Windows 7 operating system (64bit) ... Microsoft says your product will run with their software ....

PLEASE HELP ME >>> CHRISTMAS IS COMING AND I NEED TO MAKE THESE DVD FROM MY VHS TAPES..

thanks

I have found that rebooting after each hang seems to work most of the time. Also, I am saving far move frequently than under Vista. Nevertheless, the events appear random and you hope that you can get a good long session of editing in before PD 8 freezes. Work can be accomplished, it just takes much longer.

David

I'm experiencing the same problem:
http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/posts/list/1068.page#2731

I know the Dazzle is OK because my wife uses it a lot with some other video editing software.
If you find a solution or work-around, please let me know

and I, likewise will keep this forum entry posted of any progress.

Thanks, Tom
