PDS File problem

Please can someone help me.

I created a new project, imported my video files etc, add to timeline with desired effects etc and saved regularly.

I was havin some problem with a effect wher I scroll some credits at the end so I decided to close PD and open the project again.

To my dismay it gets stuck on one of my clips when I try to open the project. I have not moved any of the original clips. I did some reading on these forums and came across a post that recommended editing the pds file. After spending some time doing this I tracked down the problem.

I have multiple clips and some of the have various scenes that I created when splitting the original clips. In the pds file it loads the first few clips [10 or so] (two of them have customized scenes). Then on the 3rd clip that has customized scenes it hangs.

If I delete the scene information for the clip the the load process in PD goes further but gets stuck on the next clip with a customized scene.

So I know it has got something to do with these customized scenes but I am not sure what to do about it? If I remove the scenes won't the ones I used be missing in the timeline?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yours is a DIY task... and a learning curve.

Try using WordPad, might be easier.

Thanks for the reply.

Surely this is not the way it is meant to work??

I tried different projects and they all have the same problem. I have to remove the scene information from the project file every time. This is annoying since I lose my scene information so if I want to make changes I have to redo the scenes.

Geoffrey,

I don't know the video formats you're using. I'm currently editing and creating many videos and I have NOT had one pds fail to open for me. I save regularly etc as is my habit.

I'm using the latest build 2206 - please ensure you're doing the same.

This failure of your pds sounds like it is coming across either a corrupt file or one it doesn't like - you need to check the media files you are using - audio and video. "Customised scenes"?

Besides getting the latest build, I'd also suggest you re-install PD.

I think you need to carry out the above first before I jump in and give any more suggestions.

Thank you Dafydd!

I am not sure whether the reinstall helped or whether it was the patch but it is now working.

One thing that I noticed is that on Vista (I have Ultimate) there is not registry key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. I only found it under HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

By the way I am using a Panasonic Camcorder and the file format it uses is MOD.
