Yes - I'm very impressed with it. I wonder why SVRT doesn't work with it though? It must be deliberate but I don't know why.

I've never been a big fan of SVRT in PD as there have historically been transition issues between the copied and re-encoded segments and have found the PD encoder to be very good now for the last couple of years. That said, it makes obvious sense to not have to re-encode frames that have no changes.

Andrew, I've also only seen SVRT been offered in the Produce segment rather than under Create Disk, or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks

Hi Nathan,

SVRT should kick in (where applicable) if you deselect the 'Enable hardware video encoder' option in the final output window.

For example, I've just burnt some 1920x1080 50i 16mbps footage to blu-ray for my brother.

I selected blu-ray as a disc type then:

h.264->HD 1920x1080/50i

then in Burn in 2D

uncheck 'Enable hardware video encoder'

then start burning.

You can tell SVRT is working because the CPU usage sticks around the 20% mark and the processes whizzes through.

If you try this process with 50p footage using the 50p profile, PD just re-encodes the lot whereas in 'Produce' SVRT appears to work.

I'm not having much luck in "Create Disk" using the "HD 1920 x 1080/60p" profile. I'm testing this with a single 1080/60p file from my Panasonic HC-X920, no menus or anything. The iso or disk folder is created without any errors, but it will not play back in TMT. I was previously using PD 12 with the "TurnOnBD1080p" registry hack - this worked fine and played back in TMT without problems.

The same issue occurs with both patch 2123 and beta 2215. "HD 1920x1080/60i" plays back fine. Interestingly, if I copy the m2ts file from the "STREAM" folder of the 1080p/60 version into the same folder of the 1080i/60 version (replacing the 1080i file), it will then playback normally. This would seem to indicate that one of the metafiles is not being created correctly when using the "HD 1920 x 1080/60p" profile. Weird.

As a further troubleshooting step, I installed a copy of CL's own PowerDVD 14. The same playback problems occurred, so that pretty much ruled out TMT as the problem. PD13 | Win7x64 | 8GB RAM | Intel i7-870 | Intel 120GB SSD | WDC 320GB HD

ngcard is absolutely correct. There is major issues with broken CLPI (clip info) and/or MPLS (playlist) files when creating a 50p structure (but is fine on a 50i). I'd suggest you DO NOT use this profile till it is sorted out as the output will fail on "real" BD Players (as opposed to those that just play the M2TS file which is fine).

ngcard, FYI - In the "old" days of trying to get 50p to reliably work, I'd never had much luck in copying say a 50p MT2S into a 50i Structure and found many BD players will have issues. The CLPI defines the content the player expects (50i, number of packets etc) and the replaced file is different (say 50p, different number of packets etc) PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Hi both,

I burnt a simple project, with chapters and menu to blu-ray using the 50p profile and it works fine on my PC and on my blu-ray player (Sony 2012).

I also burnt a 50p AVCHD DVD and that worked fine too.

Cheers,

Thanks Nathan for confirming what I was seeing and Andrew for looking into it too. Nathan: What tool were you using to verify the output?

Hi Neal - have a look for BDEdit. It lets you examine and modify the BD's mpls, bdmv, clpi etc Cool little freeware tool. The info I posted came from the status page.

Hi Andrew, Glad it is working for you! In my test, I burnt to folder a single test file with Menu in HD 1820x1080/50p and DD 2ch & I tried both with and without HW Accel... I wonder if it is a setting difference since it is working for you, what settings did you use?

Thanks
Nathan

Hi Nathan,

My footage was about 10 minutes long, with chapters, burnt with a menu, dd 5.1 and hardware acceleration on. My GPU is an AMD though so maybe that was the difference?

It's worth mentioning I burnt the project with the original files on the timeline - I don't pre-render.

Cheers,

Andrew

Mmm HW Accell On/Off should not make a difference as the video encoder does not create the stucture related files (only the stream). I've tired a few different combinations and they are all corrupt. You don't by any chance still have the Reg Edit I made installed? PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

No I don't. The only difference is the cameras we are using and maybe the blu-ray players themselves. Sony players tend to be less fussy with the discs you put in them. Does your disc play on your PC?

I can play the individual M2TS just fine but the BD fails as the MPLS is not readable.

I'm wondering what the difference is between our setups.... Also can you try one with HW Accel turned off (just in case)?
Thanks

Exlnt, When you go to the "ClipInf" tab, can you select a CLPI and "read" without any errors and have the meta data displayed?

Thanks
Nathan

Edit - Likewise do the same thing on the Playlist tab - select a MPLS from the drop down and do a "read", do you see anyting

Then check on the Status tab to see if any errors were generated.

The only other thing is in Edit->Preferences->Hardware Acceleration I only have 'Enable hardware Decoding' ticked. The reason being it's much quicker on my rig.

The 00000.clpi generates ERROR: Invalid Format: 00000.mpls in the status tab when I try to read it in CLIPINF. It asks if I want to alter the packet value of ClipInfo.

Thanks for testing!

Yup that is the error I am seeing (and I suspect you will get errors on the Status Page when trying to read playlist from Playlist tab as well).

I do NOT see this problem with other profiles, just the 50p one.

Looks like your Sony player may be able to read them (or defaults to just reading the M2TS directly but I would have thought the menus would fail to load, or when trying to select the a playlist to play).

I'd be very careful using this profile in PD at this stage.

Thanks Andrew, what players work for you? I presume once Dafydd provides feeback to CL they will sort it out quickly enough.

PS - I can also confirm that there are no problems with the AVCHD 50p structure, it only seems to be the BD one that creates a corrupted structure. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD
