Quote: Yes. Considering that I have seen Cyberlink ignore clients over and over again on these forums after posting their data, I see little reason to go through the effort, unless you are willing to provide some assurance that you will follow this problem through to a conclusion. Are you willing to do that?

Dear Joshua:

1. this forum is not an official technical support forum
2. for technical issues you need to contact Customer support
3. for some cases we try to help in the forum

in your case I would like to know the CSID of your case at our Support to review the case - you may deliver this info by PM or not, it's your decision.

The problem I see is that without minimum information (at least used OS and detail Version history) it is not possible to even try to reproduce your issue.

Greetings
Michael

Dear Joshua,

from the records I can not see any info about:

- the used PowerDVD Version (please provide the full version and the SR-Number from about box) (SR is NOT the CD-KEy!)
- please let us know what is your orignal version of PDVD (full Retail and isales or OEM bundle Version)?
- in your error report you try to play-back a DVD? Please specifi if you try to playback a DVD/BD or HD-DVD

sorry for the questions but those info are needed to give you a better support

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, I can use the trick of installing version 2201 with no internet access, but 2528 puts me back in the loop of 'you must update...'
I have replied to a cutomer support ticket with all the masses of stuff they wanted about a week ago with no reply.
Ticket number: CS000906970
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Alan

Ca you please help to provide more detail info:

1. what is the original Version you installed (main and build number is needed - you can get it from the about box - please also the SR-Number (it is not a serial number or CD-Key))
2. please do not install patches from retail build to OEM Version - this will cause trouble!

Hi,
we investigated this issue and it seems to be related to issue between ODD Firmware and PowerDVD.

please try to update the ODD Firmware to the latest one - this should fix the issue

Thanks Michael, I am happy to hear that you stuck with this issue. Could you direct me to a site that supplies a reliable copy of that update?

I got Power DVD 9 to work with my Blueray player by doing the disconnect from the internet thing. Then I stupidly installed the upgrade I purchased for version 10 and now get the same looping upgrade your version of PowerDVD10 and when I do, it says it was successful but then states I need to upgrade again. Except this time, there is no website it pushes me to for downloading a patch and disconnecting from the internet and running the latest patch I downloaded from the website does not work.

This issue only seems to have a problem with certain Liteon Blueray drives and Cyberlink doesn't seem interested in helping us out. I have updated to the latest available firmware version for my Blueray drive and it did nothing. I've been dealing with this issue for over a month now and even purchased my PowerDVD10 because when it said update was needed to get it to work, I figured I would just pay them to not be troubled. Now I can get the old version working and the new version can't.

I wish there was something that could be done for me.

Thanks for trying to help Michael, but I was given the information to contact Digital River to start the return process. Every Blueray I have plays perfectly fine in version 9, but upgrade to version 10 and none of them will play.

Let me share the solution that worked for me.

Like many, I've spent hours searching forums and websites for a solution to this problem.

OS is Windows 7
Player is a Lite-On Blu-ray writer
Playback Software is PowerDVD 10 Ultra

DVDs played normally but each time I tried to play a Blu-ray disc, I got the same tiresome error message
I updated all the drivers... tried all the suggested remedies without success.
Even tried a different playback program, ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre.
I still got the same looping update message

Then I read somewhere it might have to do with the Blu-ray's AACS Copy Protection
So I downloaded and installed a trial program that disables this copy protection, AnyDVD HD
It did the trick!

Everything works normally ever since.

Hope this helps someone,

panabukk:
this is temporarily solution unless you decided to buy AnyDVD HD (After trial period expired)

Trick with AnyDVD HD also works for me, but don't know why pay again for some new softare if Cyberlink claims that PowerDVD plays BlueRay. Also temporarily because now I am here with others on this forum...
