Hi,

Yesterday I bought and installed Cyberlink Director Suite.

When I look at the libraries, I can see than PD11 (64 bits soft...) is installed in the 32 bits library (Program File x86).

PD10 is well installed in the 64 bit library.

Did I make something wrong?

Thank you.

You did not do anything wrong.

If you have Windows 7 64 bit:
Powerdirector 11 installs in the Program Files folder (64bit)

AudioDirector, ColorDirector and PhotoDirector all install in Program Files(x86). (32 Bit).

Hi Carl312, That's the problem.

I have Win 7 64 bits, and PD11 as been installed in the 32 bits program folder, as the three other softs you mantion.

A friend installed PD11 alone (Not like me, Directorsuite), and yes, PD11 is in the 64 bits Program folder.

Why is it different when the package installed is DirectorSuite.

Hi,
I contacted support and the response I received was that the Power Director11 Ultimate suite is in fact a 64Bit program, but due to the incorporation of the other modules Photo Director ColorDirector etc being 32bit the program installs to the Program x86 directory. This is different than Power Director 10 Ultra instalation.

I can also confirm that the Creative Director Suite 11 installs everything in the program files (X86) folder.

Hi everyone,
Please can you check the following.
1. Open PDR11
2. Move to the top right and select the PowerDirector name.
3. In the about Window does it state 64bit?

I'm assured the glitch will be corrected and you have a 64bit program.
Dafydd

PS. I'm running an early build currently.

I haven't tried this myself.

but

You have the ability to change the destination folder during the installation process. At least I had the option when installing it. I wonder if you changed the destination folder to the 64-bit programs folder if it would make the difference.

I am using Build 2110 too! Hope its the latest!

Hi Cap'nKevin",
Well I tried changing destination program to the "Program directory" and it wouldn't allow me to do so.
Jim
p.s. See a previous post I made concerning this, the response I got from CyberLink representative.

Well now I won't try to see if it was possible to change the intended directory folder just to "SEE" if it works!!

You already have tried and it wouldn't let you. Thanks for letting us know it wouldn't work. Some of us would try! You saved some people some time! Good Man!!

As previously stated the "glitch" will be corrected.

I doubt it will be changed.

Certainly not for our installation.

There is not any good reason to change it.

It runs as 64 Bit from that folder. What determines if a program is 32 bit or 64 bit is the internal coding.
Powerdirector was compiled as a 64 bit program.

I do not know how it handles the 32 bit or 64 bit machine. You can not run a 64 Bit executable on a 32 bit machine, so it has to be a 32 bit executable that gets installed on a 32 bit machine.

It that case all of the programs would be installed in \Program Files\ on a 32 bit Machine.

I would certainly hope it wouldn't matter, but I'm not sure how or if it will affect DLL linking.

The glitch is in the installer, so I wonder how they are going to fix this for existing installations. Jerry Schwartz

Jerrys, It does not seem to be effecting the DLL connections for Powerdirector.

It is working OK.

Interesting, my complaint: not only does it install in the x86 folder, it is incompatible with Windows 8 Professional. The program locks up and crashes, every time I try to produce or even edit a video.

Until the program is CERTIFIED windows 8 compatible, which PowerDirector 10 works perfectly with Windows 8 Professional, the program is USELESS to anyone running Windows 8 Professional x64.

I have a lot of Windows 8 apps that ran fine under the developers preview, and the consumer preview, but they do not run under the FINAL version of Windows 8, so what are you writing the code to work with?

I wasted my money on a useless piece of software, at least the Windows 8 apps that don't work, were FREE.

Since I can't edit my original post, and I had to change my user name, I am going to state the obvious:

PowerDirector 11 is NOT 64-bit, and it will NOT run under Windows 8 Professional x64.

I have read the replies here, and seen this person say that even though it installs in the x86 program files it is 64-bit.

I LAUGH at this!!

I am running Microsoft Windows 8 Professional, FULL RETAIL BUILD, attached find from my computer, PowerDirector 10 about screen, says 64-bit...

Attached find the PowerDirector 11 about screen, notice it clearly says: 32-bit...

So whoever this person is who states: PowerDirector 11 is a 64-bit build and will NOT run on a 32-bit machine, is not very knowledgeable.

How can a 64-bit program install on a 32-bit machine?

How is it that you're Windows 8 compatible PowerDirector 11, which is ONLY 64-bit code, comes up on my Windows 8 Professional x64 Retail Installation as 32-bit?

I await the answer to these questions, I'm also attaching a screen of my Computer system, and I can't wait for you to tell me their is NO 32-bit version of PowerDirector 11.
