Install PowerDirector 10 upgrade without having to install 9 first?
[Post New]
Is there a way to do this?

If there are no traces of v9, the installer of v10 will ask you for the registration key of v9 AND 10 - to proove that you are allowed to install the upgrade.

I strongly suggest you don't. See the following post as to why:

What is unique is that it crashes even when there is no content in the project ! Opening PD10 and going directly to "create disc" generates an immediate CRASH.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I have discovered a small flaw in PD10 UPGRADE only version. If one re-instals PD10 (like I did because of a system problem) without having PD9 installed first (I um using an upgrade version of PD10) then the problem noted above will occur. The solution is to fully install PD9 first and then UPGRADE to PD10. I suspect the issue is related to the licensing of BD and AVCHD burning but cannot confirm that.

I wonder about 2 things:
1: why should I want to open "create disk" without having ANY project open? - And even if I did so, the crashing of PD wouldn't take me by surprize - as I'd just asked the program to do something impossible (to create a disk out of nothing) - same as if you'd delete a file in Windows which wasn't there any more....
2: I wonder why MY installation of v10 - onto a Win7(64) system, where v9 had been installed, but removed by CL-Cleaner rather long ago - does NOT crash, even if I provoke the "create disk" without any open project issue.

Michael.

I do it often, I'm working an a Menu Design that really has nothing to do with any TL project at all. I simply need to create a new menu that I want to use in the future. How else can one get to the Menu Designer?
