some songs are missing in the produced video

I have not yet managed to produce a video in PD9 where both images and sound is OK.
Either it is missing sound in the beginning or end or both beginning and end of the video.

All audio are perfect in the projects.
I have only used six songs from Magic Music.
The video is based solely on style images, ie. photographs, then a slide show video.

I wish that the videos can be viewed on a Danish TV (= PAL) in both normal solution 4:3 and HD as well as on computetskærm.
The video must fit on one CD.
Both images and texts must be sharp.
I would like the video to appear in Windows Media Player - it's in both family and friends' PC.
The original images are in 4:3. This format is also selected in the project.

I have tried to produce in several different formats - multiple times: Wmv standard HD, WMV HD Q, win avi, mpeg-2 DVD HQ, MPEG-4 standard Q and MPEG-4 HQ.

The only time where all the music files were the video was one of the experiments with MPEG-4 standard Q.

The picture quality of MPEG is too bad to to be a suitable format for my videos. Images should be as sharp (or nearly) as originals when they appear in the video.

My Video length is 7:77:24.
Results:

Wmv standard HD:
General: Some images are purple or get color blobs.
1)
sound stops after 4:26:00, ie. missing the last two tunes on 1:06:00 2:12:00 plus.
2)
no sound before the second melody.
3)
no sound before the second melody. Oddly elongated aspect ratio.
Produced without Fixed video rendering technology and hardware video encorder

Wmv HD HQ:
General: Some images are purple or get color blobs.
melody 1 +5 +6 missing pixel dots, purple pictures. Beautiful sharpness when images are not corrupt.
With VLC Player pictures are ok.

This is found PD9 not generate wmv files that are suitable to display in Windows Media Player?
(I have recently versipn of Windows Media Player, Version 12.0.7601.17514.)
It does not change that part of the audio content is lost in Producing.

Win-Avi:
sound stops after 5:32:00 ie. lacking the last tune on 2:12:00.

Mpeg-2 DVD HQ:
sound begins only after 0:52:02 ie. first song is missing, and sound stops after 4:26:00, ie. missing the last two tunes on 1:06:00 2:12:00 plus. Picture details are not good enough.

Mpeg-4 H Q:
1)
Windows Media Player could not play more a few seconds.
2)
IN Next Produced video sound stops after 4:26:00, ie. missing the last two tunes at 1:06:00 plus 2:12:00
Picture details are not good enough.
3)
Third time: after 01:26 was a mistake so that Windows Media Player could not play.
Produced without Fixed video rendering technology and hardware video encorder.
Tried with VLC player, the pictures froze at approx. 1:26 but the sound continued. However, the penultimate song skipped.

I really need help on how I get all sound that is loaded into the project, to also be in the produced video.
As stated in my descriptions, I can not figure out what format I should be producing in. But at least I knew thar mpeg is ot sharp enough.

Hoping for a soon and qualified responses.

Regards,
Anja

There have been lots of reports of Smart Sound having problems in Powerdirector 9.

A search for Smart Sound will turn up lots of messages.

This posting is about the latest issue.
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/18413.page

One of the work arounds is to produce the Smart sound file to a WAV or WMA and use the produced audio in your project.
Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

very quick reply - thanks.

I am not sure how to make a WAW or WMA file - is it by using the node sign in the produce window?

I only brought PD9 end of March and had lot of problems form beginning - have posted three issues at tech support of which one is solved.

I have subsequently installed:
CyberLink.2330_GM2_Patch_VDE101118-05
CyberLink.2330a_Patch_VDE101118-05
CyberLink.2504_Patch_VDE101208-05
CyberLink.2702_Patch_VDE110120-07
CyberLink.2930_GM5_Patch_VDE110516-02

I followed your link. In one of the pages you mention: "By the Way, my Smartsound is build 5180".
How do I see which build my smart sound is?

Havent used PD9 the apprx last two month - summer keep one outdoor instead of indoor using computers.

Earlier I have tried with mp3 and mid sound files - this didnt work either - thats why i started saying: Up till now I havent been able to produce a video in PD9 where both images and sound is OK.

I wonder in fact, that you can not edit Smart Sound. Other audio files can be opened in an editor inside PD9- how can it be?

You did not mention anything about wmv files not playing well in Windows Media Player - as far as I know wmv is the format for this player. But maybe there is another who knows anything about this?

cheers, Anja

Hi Anja -

How do I see which build my smart sound is?

• In the SmartSound (Magic Music) module, click on the SmartSound button and you'll see the version number... http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/18413.page#95036

... you can not edit Smart Sound. Other audio files can be opened in an editor inside PD9- how can it be?

• The structure of SmartSound tracks is completely different to regular audio formats. SS tracks can be edited in SonicFire Pro.

I am not sure how to make a WAW or WMA file - is it by using the node sign in the produce window?

• Insert the SS track you want and set the duration > then go to Produce & click on the music icon. Select the format you prefer (WAV or WMA) & choose a profile.
• Now you can use that produced audio file in your project.

If your SS tracks are part of Core Foundations - http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/16761.page#83878 - you'll almost certainly need to do that pre-production step. PD & SS have issues with these.

Anja - it sounds like you're having other audio issues if you've tried producing with other audio formats.

Cheers - Tony

Hi Tony,
thanks for hints.

Hope I can post my reply now - tried several times during the day...

My SmartSound is 5180.
I have now produced lots of soundtracks. One of each possibility in PD9 - none are OK.

The soundtrac should be 7.44.24

WMV
128Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 4.27
96Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 4.27
64Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 5.33.11
48Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 5.33.11
32Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 4.27
28-8Kbps-FM - sound starts 0.51 disappear 5.33.11
28-8Kbps-mono - sound starts 0.51 disappear 5.33.11

WAV
48khz-1536Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 4.27
44khz-1411Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 5.32.24
32khz-1024Kbps - sound starts 0.51 and dont disappear
16khz- 512Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 5.32.24

MPEG4
384Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 4.27
256Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 5.32.24
192Kbps - sound starts 0.51 disappear 5.32.24

Do you have other ideas on how I can produce a usable sound file?

The other sound problem mentioned was with MP3 files in a short video (4.01) mix of one mts and some jpg photoes:
Parts of the sound disappeared and I had some sound crackle - the sound track of the mts was ok every time -
think Nina have had a issue with sound crackle too some months ago - can't find the post or solution.

As you can see
http://www.photoshop.com/users/kastoft/albums/78cb13303fd7465aa655050dd50839e9/view#0830f4a33d8f42818afb7a93e376772f

the disappear and cracle appears different places each time I produce.
can't remember how many times I produced - or delete all sound tracks and import them again before I got a workable video - at least after many times I got it.

It comes up as:

This asset has been deleted or marked private by its owner.

Have you checked your sound card drivers. I recommend you go to the chip manufacturer to get the latest driver. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Hi Carl.
sorry the gallery was as you mentioned set to private - now it's public.

I just a month ago brought a program from Ashampoo 'Advanced Driver Updater' which I run at least once a week.
It' checking all drivers at my system (more than one hundred i think) and recomend updating if a new update is available. And I update if I get a notice.
Therefore, in my opinion, all my drivers are fully updated.

For your reference, when I first time made contacted on this forum I was recommended driver update - which of course I did.
Subsequently, I made several more driver updates.

At times I feel like a nit because I can not effectuate the desired result. But when I follow all your good directions and still not succeed so I feel that perhaps I have invested in the wrong program - or the wrong version of the program.
As you can hear - I really do feel lost

Anja -

Sorry you're feeling lost. Don't worry - we've all been there. It's even more frustrating when things don't work as they should!

* Parts of SmartSound don't work as they should!
* Some aspects of audio processing in PD don't work as they should!

Anja - there are MP3 issues littered through the forum. It was Summer Sapphire/Stephanie NZ who had the saga-like issues with MP3s crackling... http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/16163.page

Many users don't have those issues, but my advice to myself is ONLY to use WAV or WMA audio files.

Can you please tell us the name(s) of the SmartSound track(s) you used?

Cheers - Tony

Hi Carl.
sorry the gallery was as you mentioned set to private - now it's public.

Thank You.

On Youtube when I and other members want to show a video, we often mark it unlisted.

Unlisted videos on Youtube are available to anyone with the link. They are not available via Youtube's search.

Hi,
In the project with SmartSound I'm using
Future Progress - Frontier (0.0 - 52.2)
Innocence - Natural (52.2 - 2.28.3)
Bach Guitar - Peacefull (2.28.3 - 3.50.24)
Mozart Night - Lighty (3.50.24 - 4.26.24)
Pavane - Repose (4.26.24 - 5.32.24)
Introspective - Thought (5.32.24 - 7.44.24)
in that order.
So:
First sound, Future Progress = always missing
Last sound, Introspective = always missing exept from the WAV 32khz-1024Kbps
Second last sound, Pavane = missing apprx half the times

Tony, the issue about MP3 Crackle (the link you supplied - yes, I recall) but Stephanie is talking about Crackle in the time line.
My MP3's work fine in the timeline - the cracle and missing sound occurs in the produced videoes.

Carl, thanks for the hint about YouTube. Haven't tried anything other than watching instructing videoes.
I only placed the screencut on the net because submit failed when I to attach it (after three times I lost patience).

Anja -

I thought I'd be able to just lay down the tracks according to your durations & attach an audio file for you...

BUT

I cannot get a single PEEP out of some of those tracks, no matter what I do.

My first attempt probably looks a bit like yours...

I won't let it beat me. SmartSound. SchmartSound!

My sound files based on mp3 looks like:
Image at Picasa webalbum

Same inage at Photoshop

Carl you are brilliant!

How did you do?
What Kbps did you use?

Just produced a WMV without any sound missing - fantastic - For the first time since I got PD9 I have been Producing a video with both sound and images.

Thanks!

While Looking forward to lern how Carl managed to make perfect WMV sound files.

Still, as mentioned when I posted my issue - how comes that when playing WWV standard HD and other WMV vidoes produced with PD9 Some images are purple or get color blobs.

Still I can't attach any files - To illustrate - Should I upload on Picasa or Photoshop - None of you have given feedback if you can see the files there using the links - or not.

Hej Nina.

Anja

Hi Anja -

I've had trouble with attachments on this site at different times. What browser are you using? Internet Explorer? Firefox? Chrome? You could try using a different one.

The attached video capture shows the steps to take to produce a SmartSound track as an audio only file. It also shows how following the correct steps doesn't always work! (just like attaching files)

Here's a little tutorial I made showing how to attach a screenshot - even though you obviously know what to do already! http://www.youtube.com/user/ynotfish77#p/u/31/uz4KbvDA8Vw

Tony,
as usual your videoes are very instructive - fantastic as to say.
The way you showed is actually what I did, but it only worked when I created the topic.

When I try to attach something in an answer, nothing happens. Everything stands still - if you know Danish / Scandinavian, you can read my explanation to Nina. Sorry it's late here and I'm tired...
continue tomorrow...

While Looking forward to lern how Carl managed to make perfect WMV sound files.

On the question of the bit rate I used for the Audio files.

I used the sample still images for video and put the Smart Sound file in the music track.

I then Produced using the Windows Media Video 9 for Zune Standard Quality profile (WMV). A low quality video, but I did not care about the video, all I wanted was the audio.

Not always successful, when it was successful, I then Extracted the Audio (WAV).
The WAV was then converted to wma using Cyberlink Media Espresso.

The profile in Media Espresso was a Media player wma profile which produced a 192 Kbps bit rate and Sampling rate 48.0 KHz. You can look with MediaInfo to see the media information.

I chose to convert the audio rather that risk failing again trying to make a WMA.

There is a serious fault with the Smart Sound and PD9. For some songs it is a real hit or miss deal.

Still I can't attach any files - To illustrate - Should I upload on Picasa or Photoshop - None of you have given feedback if you can see the files there using the links - or not.

I looked at the images you posted at Picasa webalbum, I saw them just fine.
