For best results, should you sharpen/add clarity to your video before or after editing the video? Does it matter when?

I assume you are not talking pre producing video then editing and also that source video and output video of similar specifics. If both true, I'd wait to the end of editing to add any video corrections as they often slow timeline playback fluidity significantly depending on several factors. The lack of fluid playback can make some desired editing features more challenging.
