Imported files display incorrectly!

I have a music track that I want to use. It is 2:13 long. In every music player and in Windows Explorer it is 2:13 long. When I import it into Powerdirector the track is 11min long (ish). It plays back at the correct speed but the waveform is stretched out. After 2:13 the audio is over but the waveform continues to show. This mean I can't use the count in at the beginning as a visual marker for lining up tracks.

How do I resolve this?

Have a look at the screenshot. The waveform goes on for about 11 minutes but the audio ends after 2:13.

What kind of audio-file is it? What specs does it have; that may be of interest if it comes to PD development to correct a bug?
I suggest that you report this as a bug to CL.

Did you try to split the audio at 2:13 precisely and ignore the waveform displayed (since the audio plays correctly)? Then see what happens with the count? And maybe even after saving and resting the project?

Esseff, if your audio file is a MP3 file, simply convert with Audacity (free) to a WAV file and you'll probably be okay.

Thatnks for the replies, guys.

The track is an mp3. Created in Ableton, exported as wav and then converted to mp3 using Audacity. Didn't know that PD could import wavs, let me try that and report back...

Importing the wav worked so... problem solved? I'm able to carry on but to my mind this isn't working properly as I can't import mp3s and I used to be able to. undecided

As far as reporting this to Cyberlink goes, I had problems with my Screenrecorder and was in touch with them about it. 3 months of emails back and forth and uninstalling/reinstalling countless drivers and software versions and NOTHING got solved. €35 down the toilet. Reluctant to get them involved.

Glad your issue was resolved.

The default preset in Audacity for MP3 export can produce a highly variable file to maintain audio quality. These file types through many years appear to be a issue with PD. You could also select "Constant" for bit rate mode in Audacity during MP3 export and may have better luck with such file in PD.

If I got it right.
You can create another audio file that will fix this problem.
In Media Content, right click on the video file and select Extract Audio.
Save to a folder.
The saved file appears in Media Content
Drag the video to the timeline.
Drag the new audio on top of the video audio, in the timeline, choose overlay.
This audio is in WAV format when produde your video it will be converted as per the chosen video profile.
There are other ways to do the same, this one is very simple and does not require the use of other audio editing software.
