what might help give you a hint what may be the cause of this is:
Switch on the SVRT track in the timeline. This will show you which parts or parts of the timeline "allow" SVRT (showing green) and which don't (red).
You can then either change the changes you made in the time line or see that the input format of the clip and/or the output format selected can be changed to allow SVRT.
Let us know whether that helps...

Thanks for the response. I turned on the SVRT track and the entire video was red. I'm really not sure what I did differently to cause that as well as the produced file being about twice the size of the other ones I've done.

The produced video quality is the same as the previous ones so I guess it doesn't matter in that regard.

Just curious as to what caused it.

Click the "Profile Analyzer" in the Produce room and see if PD can create a viable SVRT profile. Your currently defined 640x480/30p profile specified a little strange but surely possible.

In addition to what Jeff suggested, Use MediaInfo/Text (freeware) to view the source file of a successful svrt project and the source file of the non successful svrt project. Save the text of both and post it here on your next reply.

If you added any effect, color correction, stabilization, and/or watermark then svrt or smart rendering can’t be used as it has to be rendered with these new additions. Check for the orange i seen at the left corner of each clip to indicate this on the timeline. A screenshot of your timeline may be helpful.

The 640x480/30p was shown as the best matched profile in the profile analyzer. Being the most basic basic basic of entry level video editors, I'm really not sure what drives that as being the best. When I started my first project, PD recommended a 4:3 aspect ratio which I thought would dictate what the output needed to be, is that correct?

My edits were of the most basic types.... Trimming, scrolling title, text, a couple short music clips is all I really did to the project.

Thank you but I'm really not sure how to access the Mediainfo/text. I didnt use any effect, color correction,stabilization or watermark, just some basic editing from the media room and the title room.

Go to their website and drag one of your clips onto it, then choose Download MediaInfo Report and attach it here.

what is the clip in track 2? That may cause the problem?

That is a audio clip of background music. I'ts from the media room, and I did edit it in Audio Director. I have placed similar clips on previous projects with no issue.

Frame rate mode : Variable
Frame rate : 29.970 (29970/1000) FPS
Minimum frame rate : 8.862 FPS
Maximum frame rate : 29.970 FPS
Original frame rate : 29.970 (30000/1001) FPS

If in fact the 8.862fps is present in the file for any lull in action, PD SVRT will not function with this and the video will be fully encoded.

Secondly, from your file the video bitrate is:
Bit rate : 2 252 kb/s

You are using a 6Mbps profile, since SVRT can't be used, the encoding will be done at 6Mbps vs the 2.2Mbps in the source file. This will create a large increase in file size. If you want the smaller file size and you are happy with video quality, click the "+" icon to the right of the profile and modify the video tab to have a bitrate of 2250 Kbps and you will have similar file size as your source after full PD encoding.

Thanks Jeff and everyone who responded to my call for help. I changed the bitrate as suggested and it did indeed reduce the file size to similar to what I had seen on previous projects. The 2mb vs the 5mb video quality looks the same to my admittedly untrained eye. I have to admit I don't really understand the whats, whys and where fors but trying to learn so thanks again.
