Shadow Around White Text of Title

Firstly, I am very new to this, but have worked with computers and photoshop for many years.

I am getting very frustrated just trying to make a simple title. There is a horrible shadow around the white text. See Image Below.

There are no shadows applied to any text, and I can see that is true because if I add a white background in the title screen editor, the text shadows are gone, and I can't even see the text. But when it is transparent, the shadows appear.

It also seems to get progressively worse. The order of text layers is from top to bottom, and you can see that the word 'Science' is worse than the word 'Home'.

I thought this might just be an error in preview, but it is there after I produce the video as well.

I have no idea how to get rid of it, and it has cost me many hours of frustration trying to fix. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

You seem to have disabled HTML in your OP, but I've resized your screen capture so other people can see it

I haven't encountered this issue before.

How many titles have you used? One per line of text, or a single title with everything shown? Assuming you have multiple titles, what happens if you physically relocate them on tracks, e.g. moving "SCIENCE" to the track below "at HOME"?

Thank you so much for editing and correcting the image. I will keep that in mind for any future posts.

This is just 1 title. 8 lines in the title.

I moved the first line as per your suggestion, and all the shadows moved down one. EG. Science now had no shadow, technology was worse and so on. Home now has a noticeable shadow too.

Could you go to File > Pack Project Materials and upload your project to Google Drive or OneDrive and post the link to it here? I'm assuming that you'd be OK sharing it with people here, and that might give a clue as to what's going on.

Also, are you using the subscription version (PD365)? Click on PowerDirector at the top right of the app window and let us know the exact version number.

I removed the videos, and replaced with an image, and still has same problem. Here is a zip of the 'Pack Project Materials':

I hope it works.

I am using the 365 subscription, latest version.

Thanks for doing that so quickly!

I see exactly the same thing on my end, and I'm trying to figure out what's going on. This certainly looks like a bug, and one thing I've found is that if I take the Default title and set it to use the same font and the same size, it doesn't show the outline:

Can you confirm that the same thing happens on your end?

So far it seems like there's something specific to your title that's causing the issue but I haven't figured it out yet. I've tried disabling and even removing all but one line of text, but the issue is still present.

I'm trying to figure out if I can make this work as-is rather than asking you to recreate the entire title from scratch as you've clearly put some real work into it, but if you were to do that starting with the default title and checked every step along the way you might find what went wrong.

Do you remember which title you originally dragged to the timeline?

I used the Default Text Title.

Here are some important steps I took that will help:

I added a shadow to each line of text. Distance 0, Blur 13, Opacity 77.
I used keyframes to adjust the position from off-screen to onscreen for every line.
I then noticed some shadows were thick and some thin, so I turned off all shadows, and this is what you now see.

I just reproduced using these steps. Hopefully, you can too. It does seem like a bug.

I have since given up and just used a premade title, which is a shame, but it works.

Ok, the problem is caused by the Title Reveal Mask. You had it enabled on all the text lines, even the top two lines that didn't have any movement. Somehow, when PD overlaid all the masks on top of each other it gave your text hard outlines. Definitely a bug!

Here's what it looks like on the attached project, which has all the reveal masks disabled:

In all honesty, I think you'll need a thin border or a slight shadow to avoid losing the text in the glare, but for now you've got the pure text you were wanting.

I changed the attributes on the moving text to use opacity rather than the reveal mask. The effect isn't exactly the same, but overall I think it has a similar impact. You can also try out other methods if the fade in doesn't look the way you want.

Legend. Thank you for taking the time to help. Very appreciated.

This image is not actually part of my project, and the actual videos are quite dark so no border works ok. I did have a shadow which I do like to use which also overcomes the bright background issue. Good tip though.

This was my first ever title, and I am not sure if I am using the tools correctly, but I did want to mask each line, and I imagine this is the correct way to do it, it just has a bug.

Anyway, I can move on from this project now, and onto the next. You help has helped me with a good workaround though.

Thanks again. Hopefully, they might see this and fix in future editions.

You're doing everything correctly, and I'm very impressed that you took on so many details in your first title. STEM Mayhem indeed! cool

The best way to let CL know about this issue is to submit a ticket through tech support. With your permission, I'll do that right away and I'm happy to handle their follow-up questions to make sure they can recreate the problem on their end. Please keep the test project content available, or let me know if you want to take it down so I can provide them with a copy.

Please feel free to submit a ticket, I would be a little lost with jargon most likely.

Happy to leave the test project there for them.

Thank you again.

I have good news!

Tech support responded that they have "reproduced similar concerns in our lab using the project files.
This case has been escalated to engineering team for further investigation."
